Or The One Commandment. I was torn.
Singin’ in the Drop
Jo Adell. That is all I can even say right now.
This is delightful. But based on the chug -- and having a 21-year-old daughter myself -- I'm just going to say that might not have been Sorcha's first sip.
OK, I'm now utterly obsessed with this umpire, S.M. Decker. Look at how he's listed in this box score in the Chicago Tribune that same year.
Ran across this quote while working on my next next book SEASONS: “Decker ought to write a book on what he knows about umpiring — it would only take him a second — and then go and jump into the lake.” That’s from 1883.
I mean, is Sarah the best or what?
I mean at this point the Allen & Ginter people are just mocking @kentremendous.bsky.social and me.
Is this finally the year that C.B. Bucknor stops plaguing baseball? It might be.
I just found out there’s a women’s tennis player named Katie Volynets, and while I feel like I am late to this knowledge, it has forever changed my life, and I will be rooting for her to win every tournament from now on.
Working pretty much 24 hours a day on my next book, SEASONS, about the greatest individual seasons in baseball history, and that means lots and lots of baseball research, and I think my biggest takeaway is that we should start calling outfielders "gardeners" again.
We made it through the first weekend of ABS and some teams fared better than others. What did you think about it?
Has any shot made more people happy in America at one time as Braylon Mullins’? I think you have to go back to Eruzione.
Will ABS work as natural selection for bad umpires? I’m seriously wondering.
Yeah, that seems right.
Browns. Why? Seriously, why have they been this bad for the whole century. Why?
DeLauter. My gosh.
Wut

I usually only do sales during the off-season but I'm real excited for this season so let's do this. Take 20% off the Long Game for a year ($40) or a month ($4.80). Support your local progressive and independent baseball writer!!!

This was a fun one. Joined @joeposnanski.com and @kentremendous.bsky.social on the PosCast. If two proud and avowed #Yankees haters can bring themselves to read #BossesOfTheBronx then …
At least it was a quick half inning.
First two hard hitting questions to Rob Manfred.
1. When was your first opening day?
2. When did you fall in love with baseball?
Looking forward to reading Walter Isaacson's "The Greatest Sentence Ever Written." Very much hoping it's, "Is he strong, listen bud, he's got radioactive blood."
