Robo Assault has unused animations for flying while being controlled (as in entering a canon and a player inputting left/right/etc to steer them.)
This suggests that at some point in development, they were a playable character but was scrapped.

The fireworks do exist in Garden Warfare 2 and can be restored, but go unused due to poor programming.

Kernel-pult makes a cameo (missing the catapult) during Garlic Drone's Corn Strike ability when falling from the sky. When the corn hits the ground, it turns into a different model entirely and loses the eyes and leaves.

PvZ Replanted's pre-load was cracked and people began data-mining. Unsurprisingly, it uses AI in-game. This is how little care and respect they have for their flagship franchise, AND its original team.
Nice AI Animation PopCap & EA. You guys really know how to cut corners with all those fingers disappearing and reappearing, and fence details getting messed up.
Rich Werner, the original artist for Plants vs. Zombies applied for an open artist position on Plants vs. Zombies 3 and EA rejected him twice.
