This is an absolutely unhinged take and I am 100% here for it.

Small talk is a shot in the dark to a stranger. Aimed at the big easy subjects that are likely to hit home. "Cold enough for ya?" isn't really about the temperature, it's "I am a human in a body; i also know what it's like to be cold. We are together in this."
