This is interesting. We should roll this YIMBY stuff out here in Qld.

It may be the only way for the kids and grandkids to be able to afford their own home. One day. Maybe. 🤞

Canberra woman in an aged care 'black hole' sees no way out After she was stuck in a Canberra hospital for 19 months, paraplegic 84-year-old Mary Wansey has lost hope of ever finding a place in aged care.

Welcome to corporatised aged care in Aust

We need better govt at all levels.

We need govt that treats people with empathy not cruelty.

Classy. Be safe around trains…..

and the Strait of Hormuz too maybe.

Bonus:

You cannot ever use telehealth for VAD if you’re terminally ill.

You cannot ever get Medicare coverage for VAD if you’re terminally ill.

So if you’re terminally ill and want help with VAD our PM says it’s all on you. The cost. Travel to face to face. And the pain of it all is free too.

Don’t forget your weekend NSL wrap. There’s good coverage of goings on Aust wide.

VAD gets a couple of mentions.

👉 Dwd-NSW need a hand with the telehealth for VAD campaign. Please assist. And send the AG a message! See the link.

👉 Go Gentle Australia's 2026 State of VAD Report. Lots more to do.

The Canadians have one of the best MAID/VAD systems in the world.

We need to debate having a track 2 process here in Aust one day. Soon.

Cross out 46 and replace with 48.

More time passes. No action for our terminally ill.

Canadians - your access to MAID is being attacked. It’s starting in Alberta but won’t stop there.

Step up and lend your support to fix this.

“And the voice most central to the decision — the patient’s — is often the one missing from the story entirely.”

Exactly.

Remember this.

Especially when criticism is made.

Or when legislation is sabotaged like in UK, or Alberta Canada.

Like Telehealth use for VAD and Medicare coverage for VAD, both to help our terminally ill; here’s another urgently needed policy reform Aust needs and @australianlabor.bsky.social just can’t seem to find the courage to act on?

What’s Govt for again?

One of them has been arrested and will face a criminal trial, as you would expect in a properly-functioning democratic nation. The other is the President of the United States,” one observer said.

Read this & act.

Write to your MP. Your name. Your circumstances. Your specific question: what did you do to prevent this, & what are you doing now to protect us from it?

Talk about it. At work, at the table, at the local, at the school gate.

Our government supported this war.

Vote accordingly

Join me in supporting the Allow telehealth for VAD Campaign A federal law makes it a crime to use electronic communications to discuss VAD - this includes telehealth and even email or phone calls. It was passed in 2005 and was designed to prevent suicide chat ...

VAD laws are caught by an overriding federal law which makes it a crime to discuss VAD using electronic means of communication - including phone, email & telehealth.

People wanting VAD have died waiting in vain. In pain.

Please email our Attorney General to fix it

But the terminally ill cannot use Telehealth for VAD tasks.

And the terminally ill cannot get Medicare coverage for VAD tasks.

Why choose to punish our terminally ill @australianlabor.bsky.social ?

But our terminally ill cannot use Telehealth from home for VAD tasks. Nor can they get Medicare coverage for VAD tasks.

It’s that way by choice. The choice of the @australianlabor.bsky.social

After watching her mum die in agony, Angie wants to change the law The proposed legal provision would permit a family member or legal representative to “choose a peaceful and humane death” on behalf of a person with dementia.

“Slow, painful and inhumane.

That’s how Angie List describes her mother’s recent death.”

“But she should not have suffered like she did.”

We need to do better. We need more law changes.

With a little help from one of those young people who can get around social media age bans, we converted our desktop to Linux - runs on Linux mint.

It’s fantastic.

And we use LibreOffice, which is free & offers good compatibility with Microsoft Office files.

Go Linux people! Microsoft sux.

As usual we expect @albomp.bsky.social to make it worse.

👉 “there is no guarantee that the oil companies will fully pass this cut on to consumers.”

Bet the oil companies keep the $.

Free public transport would have been better. Aust wide. Prob cheaper too & woulda reduced consumption to boot.
