It's Not Me, It's Them: A Breakup Letter to the Calgary School deadfortaxreasons.wordpress.com/2026/04/21/i...
This piece is the best takedown I have read in a while. The sections on Smith’s response to expensive groceries and classroom disruption should be stapled to every Albertan’s front door.

“a governing party that is confident in its ability to keep winning over voters doesn’t need to gerrymander ridings.”

I can buy all the US spirits I want in my province. I choose not to. It has nothing to do with US insults but with US not honoring trade agreements (including dairy) and demanding tribute from trading partners to address a bogus trade imbalance that has made the US the richest country in the world.
2/ Unprecedented, unethical, and blatant rigging of the next election. This has never happened in Canadian history, and is clearly inspired by Trump’s politics. This is an assault on democracy.
1/ The UCP’s answer to the public’s outcry to the idea of gerrymandering? Dump the independent Boundary Commission work altogether and strike a UCP majority committee that will steer the decision towards the electoral map they want without any public input.

Astute observation and a good argument against ordering more shit off of Amazon.
Not your best work Don. Did Rick Bell hack your login?
Crediting Trudeau with “creating the current AB separatist movement” is laughably hyperbolic for a senior political reporter. Did he create the global movement of grievance politics as well? Your columns are better when you stick to healthcare.
Power to the people!
Good thing he’s got renowned closer Witkoff helping him.
and the Premier pretends she's a libertarian while she has the largest AB govt and has it meddling in our everyday lives???
This govt doesn't seem to prioritize what the vast majority of ABs do... what's the scoop AB? Why do we tolerate this?

I think Apollo did this part better but it was a long time ago and memory is fluid.
Bring up blaming immigrants for all your problems and half the province laps that up. It's the real Alberta Advantage.
Listened to her interview on the Current this morning and I wanted to break something. The non-stop gaslighting is infuriating. How can any sentient being listen to her and think she really cares at all about anything other than her own self interest???

A good read. Considering their identity is tied up in their superior work ethic it’s disappointing that the separatists take the lazy scapegoat approach to blaming immigrants for their own failings. #ableg
Very astute. Bonus point for using puppeteered in the skeet. #Wordoftheday
A high waterfall in Wells Gray Park, British Columbia. Large volcano formed basin. Photo taken from observation lookout across the canyon.
My version from a 2016 trip. Wells Gray Provincial Park is worth the long drive to get there.
I think we can all agree that we've taken this whole "anybody can be president" thing too far.
This is perfect.

"The Premier's credibility is in tatters, and with it, the credibility of the government on fiscal issues...
"Doesn't she see that her actions and her words simply don't line up?"
She’s good!
Real forceful rebuttal from the government here. The look on Nicolaides’ face screams guilt.

Today I want to tell you about my favorite sandwich, where to get it, and some other very important information you might not have heard before.
This is hilarious.
Also, completely enraging.
