The male and female switch duties and I kind of hide under the porch. I think they knew I was there though. Crazy amount of work. Sawdust at the base of the tree. The hole was big enough for 2 squirrels the next year to nest in. It goes down about a foot. At least.

Northern Flicker making a nest hole in the side of a maple tree

This was take 3 years ago today. I had the pleasure of watching 2 Northern Flickers for almost a month making their nest hole in the side of the tree.

This past month has been the craziest back and forth ever in my memory.

That’s a nice way commemorate.
I won’t get it yet. It will be more for my 9 year old grandson.

The window in front of me as I look out. Plants and fencing and a metal start. There is a suet cage outside and a wood pecker balanced to eat the suet. He flies back and forth and takes a bit at a time.

Looking forward out the window to the woodpecker flitting back and forth to the suet feeder.
I love watching him flying back and forth.
