In conclusion (plenty more good content, watch recording!) if you are a senior engineer you should advocate for hiring juniors to your management, it will be better for everyone!

You then optimize for people who have context and knowledge rather than those who are more junior or new to systems. This is why Juniors on platform teams can help build better platforms!

One part mentioned is that as a platform engineer it's easy to listen to loud feedback and maybe you get 20% use case. I'm also thinking that it's easier to talk to people you know, so a platform team might lean on their existing relations, the people who worked there long 🧵
