Worse than limited opening hours, it's the withdrawal of 2/3 of the archive for curiosity-driven research that is the real scandal for what is supposed to be a public-service organization.

The Telepgraph article about Billionaires reform backer Ben Delo pledging to move back to the UK to fund the Reform party and circumvent a new cap on overseas donations.

Patriotism isn’t leveraging wealth to bend politics in your favour. It’s paying your fair share.

That’s why we back caps on political donations - home or abroad - and why MPs must act to ensure UK mega-donors are included in any limits.

Well done Bavaria for protecting & celebrating world's largest contiguous hop-growing region! Sadly not the same for our historic hop heritage, but brewers Harvey's, Hogs Back, others, remain committed to local hops for their ales.

You develop an instant global consciousness, a people orientation, an intense dissatisfaction with the state of the world, and a compulsion to do something about it. From out there on the moon, international politics look so petty. You want to grab a politician by the scruff of the neck and drag him a quarter of a million miles out and say, ‘Look at that, you son of a bitch

Hate this BULLSHIT. Why would authors use something vastly inferior to their own work, which threatens to take away their livelihoods? #NeverAI

"Sex slave' woman wanted for burglary
A WOMAN who had five pitbull puppies cloned in South Korea is wanted in Tennessee on burglary charges, lawyers there said today. Joyce MeKinney, 58, was accused of telling a 15-year-old boy to burgle a house to raise cash to buy a false leg for a horse. She fled Britain in 1977 to avoid a trial for allegedly abducting a Mermon missionary and making him her sex slave.

Certainly some impact but hard to quantify how much given the global financial crash in 2008 and, as the article points out, an ever-increasing move towards entertainment at home. I just wonder how many pubs would survive now if smoking was allowed. Maybe even more people would stay at home.

Smoking ban in Scotland's pubs was a 'PR war' - but has it saved lives? Exactly 20 years ago, Scotland became the first part of the UK to outlaw smoking in bars, restaurants and offices.

Interesting read. As much as I love pubs, I honestly don't think I'd be going in any pub these days if smoking was still allowed.

You could say that Rock n Roll was born 111 years ago today in Arkansas, but probably not where you'd think. Before there was a Chuck Berry or Little Richard, there was those who wanted to be like her.

Rosetta Nubin better known as Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the godmother of Rock was born on this day
