The ugliness being directed at Bushra Amiwala is disgusting. She was the first Gen Z candidate to become an elected official in the US, and the youngest Muslim elected official at the time. She’s been deeply involved in politics here since she was a teen.

Bushra, from one Rogers Park/Skokie kid to another, keep going. I’ve kept this button since I met you in Jan 2018 because I knew you’d keep fighting to make a difference.

I’m probably one of the few BlueSky users on here who could actually vote in IL-9. There were a lot of great candidates but I voted for Amiwala due to the following: I wanted someone who was born and raised in the district and already had a track record as a politician.

I was on the ballot at the same time as Biss in 2018. As a 19y old, I earned 15,000 votes, roughly 6,000 being net-new primary voters. I’m proud to give people something to vote FOR, not against. See you at the polls, punch #34

Our democracy is in a pretty sorry ass state when all of the replies here are folks who do not live in IL-09 trying to bully this candidate out of her campaign.
