it is wild to me to have a colleague say that using genAI to do a "first analysis" of a bunch of papers to get summaries and then engage with those summaries is a legitimate way to do any sort of scholarship like fucking hell how are you calling yourself a scholar

Love this! Scapegoating AI art on disablility is trash, people with no hands paint with their feet. Artists through history are disabled! I'm one & tons of my homies. And bad art is great! People are allowed to make bad art. I wanna see every shitty amateur poem written for National Poetry Month!

KIKI Norge

Norway politicians are about to discuss (and maybe pass) a law that enables AI companies to train on everything we post online.

We are not gonna let that happen without a fight.

We are organising a march and speaking at the comitee meeting.
If you're local, check out kikinorge.no tp help out!

Thesis: LLMs enact for everyone a version of what some disabled people have called 'technoableism' - a redemptive forcing to the norm via technical means, even though the underling idea of 'normal' is an exclusionary, socially-constructed and based ultimately on 'productivity'

Large Language Models Memorise Their Training Data A new paper shows that LLMs memorise much more of their training data than was previously known.

This new paper is the death knell for the tired argument that AI models don't memorise their training data.

They do. This paper proves it beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I wrote up the paper's findings here: dontstealthisblog.substack.com/p/large-lang...

Why not just make a Custom Feeds editor? Engineers have been making tools to help people make content without code for decades.

That's a great ambition and all, but what LLM is Attie based on?
And what is in the training data?

LLMs are trained on stolen labour, and we have decades of UI and UX design to solve similar problems, website builders etc.

Why is Attie your first instinctual solution to this problem?

2 weeks ago 0 0 0 0

You also have a major segment of people who instinctively assume that anything AI related will ingest what you post for training, which isn't an unfounded suspicion but doesn't always apply.

OpenSource has always had the problem of empowering only those with tech knowledge, and attie seems like a way to sell the concept of the "Open protocol" to the masses.

People dislike it being built on LLMs (the stolen labour part) and using a chat interface rather than some other UI sollution.

I think writing your stories with AI so you can "focus on reporting" is both disrespectful to your audience and a guarantee that you don't do good reporting, because you're clearly not a fan of quality information. Negative levels of respect for people that do this.

Everyone relax, Kash Patel’s PERSONAL email was hacked. As we all know, conservatives don’t conduct any government business on personal email because they believe it’s wrong

The cold splash of water in my face whenever I encounter lawyers using AI. An entire profession based on assumptions of accountability and responsibility, opting wholeheartedly into a mechanical turk.

The nose dive of credibility when someone offers ‘AI enhanced’ legal services, my god.
