There’s a sizable Iranian immigrant community here in Toronto, both first-generation and expats. I’ve spoken to enough of them to gather that among those who escaped the regime, they’re glad someone is doing something. They all just don’t trust who’s carrying it out.

I think (if that’s the general model) they’re called Rotary’s because a rotating hook was new. I believe the more common sewing action before was a rocking back and forth, which can be prone to skipped stitches and vibration. Great machines. It’ll take any home sewing thread you throw in it.

Is it the one with a brownish textured body, and silver details? If so, I’ve got one and it’s fantastic. It’s pretty powerful and the foot lift is high enough for most projects. It’s a beautiful stitch too. All I needed to do was replace the rubber on the motor that turned the flywheel. $10..

This new machine is my first “new” machine, and before Friday I hadn’t spent more than $$250-no I take that back, the buttonholer was $350 WHICH IS CRAZY FOR THAT MACHINE.
But I feel you, the hunt and bargain is almost as fun as the sewing!

Yeah broken because the needle was in backwards or the thread path was a rats nest is my fave. Once I felt so bad for the lady with a really nice brother, I couldn’t buy it. Her bobbin was threaded backwards..she gave me a few yards of nice wool for my troubles tho.

Dude the motor on them kens is no joke. The 60s-70s 1.3amp pot motor competes in a different class. I nearly grabbed one instead of this new monster, but the 12mm presser foot height on the HD9 is what won me over.
I LOVE the Kenmore/WHITE/Domestic linup.

I HUNTED for a machine that could meet my needs, that was moderately portable so I can still create when I’m away from the shop on my day job, and this is the only option both new and old that met all of them.
Straight stitch only, so it’s time to get couture on my edge finishing. Sews like a dream.

That monster is heavy. 179lbs to be exact.
The Reece 101 is a keyhole Chainstitch buttonhole machine. All it does is make BEAUTIFUL eyelet shaped buttonholes. No one has been able to replicate the precision it puts out. It’s the holy grail of workwear and even fit for fine suiting. And it’s MINE!!

SO! It’s the original Chainstitch keyhole button hole machine. Suitable for both light and the heaviest of garments. It also lays down what is called a “gimp” which separates it from the pack. It’s from the 40s I believe and still the holy grail of workwear manufacturing.

That should never be something that relies on you. To me that sounds like a partial taking of responsibility for someone else’s corrupt actions. That’s not something you should carry.

I'm sorry, but this woman posting photos of her dog at a religious event in Spain and then having to frantically clarify a few days later at their "supersausage_charlie" Instagram account is something out of a Curb Your Enthusiasm episode.
