Rutte was a terrible PM, always smiling whilst carrying out unnecessary austerity measures to enrich the corporate world. Gutting to see that he’s now doing even more damage as Trump’s lapdog
Given their track record in privatisations, this might be a risk for the UK as well
Another potential issue: The Dutch digital ID system, in place since 2003, was on the verge of being bought up by a US tech giant. It seems the decision to sell was reversed just in time, but the government is annoyingly lax about the whole thing
Aesop: I TOLD YOU
What do you like better, actual writing by Ursula Le Guin and Hilary Mantel, or pretend writing produced by the plagiarism machine trained illegally on their works? Now you can take the test!
Pro tip: if you just choose the shorter options, you will always pick ‘written by a human’. AI is wordy
Here’s a Dutch site with a range of bird cams, active from tomorrow all through spring and summer. There’s a couple of species of owls, storks, meadow birds and a few others www.vogelbescherming.nl/beleefdelente
I don’t have access to the article yet (institutional access is not yet active for content this recent) so I can’t check, but I’m really curious if you mean that there’s no research yet or that research shows that bans don’t work? I can imagine both…
What do you think about Vargas et al’s definitions of cocreation / codesign / coproduction? pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35702744/ I find this quite usable

Could also be an actual causality in the data – I can totally imagine forgetting to enter everything I consume on days I take alcohol. So there’s fewer reported calories, although the actual number of consumed calories may well be higher
Screenshot from LinkedIn: “My nutrition app suggested I should try alcohol more often.” The image shows a heading reading “Today’s Highlights (new)” and a subheading “Pattern: Alcohol. Try alcohol more often”, followed by text “We’ve noticed on days you drink alcohol, you tend to keep your total calories lower.” To the right, there’s a full glass of a liquid that looks a bit like computer-generated whisky or rum.
Saw this do the rounds on LinkedIn:
“My nutrition app suggested I should try alcohol more often.”
Probably fake, right? Or is it?
I thought about that, but I do want people to build derivative products… For instance by using my tools for informing behavioural change support, and making their own tools suited for their clients / patients / users / whatnot. It’s the explicit use case of training AI that I want to leave out
Question: is there a Creative Commons licence that grants people a full licence to use content, except for the training of an LLM?
Previously, I have used CC BY-SA for some of my work. Is there something like CC BY-SA-NoAI?

The impacts of locking under 16 yos from their social media networks are now beginning to bite for those young people who relied on them for social connection
Never mind the jobs you had, tell me five classes you had in college: (well, in uni, same thing surely?)
1. Writing film scenarios
2. Audiovisual communication
3. Persuasion and attitude change
4. Philosophy of the cognitive sciences
5. Interpersonal relations and power
“Screenshot of a promoted Reddit post by u/AYAGDOS. The post reads: ‘Navigating gender dysphoria? Join our confidential, cross-country study of 18–25 year olds to tell your story, challenge preconceptions, and have YOUR experience reflected in the science.’ Below is a banner graphic with the Northwestern University logo and the text ‘TRANS OR GENDERQUEER? SHARE YOUR STORY.’ The image shows a close-up of a hand with light pink nail polish, partially painted blue, held up against a blurred background. A link to ayagdos.org and a ‘Learn More’ button appear at the bottom, along with Reddit vote and share icons.”
If you see this, don't participate. It's a rigged study by Lisa Littman and unethical researcher J. Michael Bailey meant to undermine access to care. Spread the word.

Two years and five months into my job at Radboud University Medical Centre, and for the first time I dared use one of the many kick scooters standing around the tunnels connecting the hospital buildings, shaving 97% off my travel time between meetings.
This is what innovation looks like
The image shows a blue Smilodon (a kind of extinct big cat with long canine teeth) roaring to the viewer on a red and orange background. It is framed by the words "CHIN UP" and "FANGS OUT". The style is like a vintage screenprint though the artwork is digital.

Hah yes, all the time! 😄 It’s interesting, right? Recently, I was wondering about hoe ‘Fehler’ means something’s missing (‘es fehlt’), whereas a mistake is more like ‘taking the wrong thing’, and ‘vergissing’ in Dutch is ‘guessing wrongly’ - does it say something about cultural differences? 😬

“And I feel fine,” so yeah, that checks out
Earth already stopped turning IN DECEMBER? 😳 It’s even worse than I thought
The Foucault pendulum in the faculty of science at our uni has stopped swinging 😱
So that means earth has stopped turning? No wonder with everything going on and all 😳😭
