this is a fantastic book I got to read relatively early thanks to @slhuang.com and Oliver Dougherty at @tordotcompub.bsky.social reaching out to me. And now you all can get the joy of diving in.

Reading @hildur.bsky.social's Dead Weight, translated by @maryrobinettekowal.com. God dang, this is so much fun. You can tell things are inching towards doom, but not how.
Exactly the book I needed tonight. It drops next month!
“Inside one of the mummies, the team discovered a rare papyrus containing a passage from Book II of the Iliad by Homer. The text includes part of the “Catalogue of Ships,” which lists Greek forces involved in the campaign against Troy.”

As the editor of a book on this list, allow me to say again that book banning is a catastrophe for freedom of speech in America. There is no silver lining. It's all harm.
You can fight back by calling your reps to demand they vote against HR 7661, which is effectively a national book banning bill.
It opened fine for me without a gift link and no subscription, sorry!
