In two days, we’ll celebrate Earth Day…and Environmental Action will celebrate our birthday (we were founded on the very first Earth Day!) 🌎
Why is #EarthDay important to you?
ACTION ALERT: Rep. Lauren Boebert’s bill to open the door to nationwide wolf hunting has narrowly passed through the House of Representatives. Take action to stop this bill in the Senate by sending a message to your senators today: environmental-action.org/take-action/...
We want to know: What environmental issues matter most to you?
That’s why we’ve put together this quick survey:
"For the last 25 years, 58 million acres of American forest have had no new roads, no logging equipment, and no reason to appear on anyone’s industrial map. This year that is changing — and much faster than most people realize."
It's International Dark Sky Week! How are you celebrating #IDSW?
Earth Day is around the corner, and we want to know: Why is Earth Day important to you? Let us know in the replies, and we'll share some of our favorite answers on April 22.
We're less than a month away from the Second Annual International Plastic Pellet Count! Sign up for a pellet count here, and help put our #PlanetOverPlastic:
Hundreds of wolves were hunted and killed this winter.
Now, Rep. Lauren Boebert’s bill to open the door to nationwide wolf huntis has passed through the House.
We need to stop this wolf-killing bill in the Senate. Tell your senators: No more wolf hunts.
"Even though the grey wolf is classified as an endangered species, a new study found that the majority of Michigan’s recorded wolf deaths are caused by humans."
"In addition, nine wolves were killed illegally since September— information not otherwise included in the state’s official tally."
There are just 900 polar bears still living around the Beaufort Sea.
But now the Fish and Wildlife Service is trying to give oil companies the go ahead to injure and kill them.
Tell the Fish and Wildlife Service: Protect polar bears, not oil companies.
The calf was just three years old. Despite protecting it fiercely, the mother couldn’t save it.
This tale is all too common for Right whales. Right now, there are only around 380 left in the wild.
Let’s learn more about the threats Right whales are facing and why they need our help:
Breaking: The BLM has started work to erase protections for 300,000 acres surrounding Chaco Canyon.
The agency is only allowing 7 days for public comment. Take action here: environmental-action.org/take-action/...
"In 2010, the Deepwater Horizon disaster spilled millions of gallons of oil in the Gulf, killing more than 20 percent of the Rice’s whale population. According to federal estimates, around 50 Rice’s whales remain on Earth, and they are found only in the Gulf."
Senseless killing: The final count is in, and nearly 250 wolves were hunted and killed in Montana this winter.
Monarch butterfly populations are still a tiny fraction of what they should be.
But there's good news: After years of public education, warning about pesticides like glyphosate and promoting the restoration of native habitat, we’re seeing some progress.
We're excited to be part of the International Plastic Pellet Count again this year! Sign up at www.pelletcount.org, and help spread the word by sharing with friends and family. #PlanetOverPlastic
Wolf 1478F was a “rising star” in Yellowstone National Park’s legendary Junction Butte pack.
But at a time when she should have been stepping into leadership as the pack’s alpha female, she became a statistic.
This week is #LoboWeek! Take a moment to tell your U.S. House representative not to erase protections for Mexican gray wolves.
