I am creating a clear path for the City to reach carbon neutrality by 2045, double local solar production, and install 120,000 EV chargers.

With this plan, we’re doubling down on that progress and moving full steam ahead to clean our air, create green jobs, and build a more sustainable city.

We’ve already made L.A. coal-free, opened one of the largest solar and battery storage facilities in the country, and doubled the number of EV chargers in Los Angeles.

On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson changed the course of history, breaking baseball’s color barrier. Today, we honor an icon whose courage continues to echo far beyond the field.

I am grateful to everyone who stayed at the table and worked together to put our families first.

I want to recognize our teachers, cafeteria workers, administrators, special education assistants, custodians, bus drivers, and other dedicated workers who show up for our children every single day. Their work is essential, and they deserve a fair contract. Today, that commitment has been met.

The people who educate and care for our children carry one of the greatest responsibilities there is. They deserve respect, they deserve stability, and they deserve a fair agreement.

Now we have one. Thank you to everyone who came together to put families first.

I joined negotiations to push for a resolution, because a strike would have placed an enormous burden on working families across this city.

Our schools’ teachers, instructional aides, nurses, custodians, bus drivers, and other dedicated workers care for our children every day, and they deserve a fair contract. Now, there is one on the table, and class is in session tomorrow.

I want to thank SEIU Local 99 Executive Director Max Arias and Interim Superintendent Andres Chait for working together with me to put our families first.

I also stepped in to make sure the City was prepared to provide safe places for children while schools are closed – and I am glad that we do not need those contingency plans.

I stepped into the negotiations to make sure every effort was made to find an agreement, because a strike would disrupt the lives of hundreds of thousands of kids and their parents, who need childcare and need to go to work.

Ten years ago, Kobe Bryant delivered a farewell that transcended sport. Sixty points and a lasting imprint on L.A.’s culture of excellence, creativity, and grit. His legacy continues to shape how we show up and push forward.

In a moment like this, when fear and hatred are on the rise, there is a moral urgency to listen. It is more important now than ever to preserve this history and educate future generations.

We gathered for Yom HaShoah to remember the six million Jewish souls and countless others who perished in the Holocaust. It is a profound privilege to still be able to hear directly from survivors, to learn from them, and carry their stories forward.

Los Angeles is home to one of the oldest Holocaust museums in the country. Founded by survivors, Holocaust Museum LA is dedicated to memory, education, and truth.

A 60-year low in homicides citywide shows us what a comprehensive approach to community safety does, and we will continue to invest in our communities so that all Angelenos have the dignity and safety they deserve.

Programs like Safe Passage support our youth and give them the care that they need to believe in a brighter future.

I created the Office of Community Safety to coordinate a comprehensive, community-driven approach to public safety that addresses the social and economic conditions that drive community harm.

The new Citywide Adaptive Reuse Ordinance builds on that proven success and expands these tools across Los Angeles, so we can create more housing faster and bring new life to underused buildings citywide.

Adaptive reuse is already helping transform older buildings in Downtown and Koreatown into much-needed housing.

This is what Shine LA is all about: Angelenos stepping up and building the city they want to see.

After volunteering with Shine LA in December, these students took it a step further by fundraising $10,000 and organizing the effort to donate essential hygiene products to local organizations, including the Downtown Women’s Center.

I was proud to recognize these young leaders for turning intention into action and showing what leadership looks like in Los Angeles. I joined students from the Archer School for Girls for a special Shine LA focused on supporting young girls and women in need.

For the first time ever, Los Angeles has seen a two-year decline in homelessness. We have so much more work to do, but these stories matter.

I’m focused on ending Veteran homelessness in Los Angeles so that all heroes, like David, have stable, affordable places to call home.

The best way to address homelessness is to prevent it before it starts. I’m proud of the new partnership between the Mayor’s Fund and the Superior Court of Los Angeles County to provide free legal support and help resolve eviction cases early.
