A beat/song I made earlier this week dedicated to my lost homeless friend Mark.

I found out last night he's currently on the ICU (and apparently has been in and out of hospitals getting dialysis treatment for some months now).

Mental health is no joke... I have so many regrets, wishing I knew more

Interesting.

So you truly feel that anime *as a medium* is intrinsically better?

And yet it appears that your reasons aren't actually about the mediums themselves… but about the works you've seen in each.

I believe you can find plenty of impactful films dripping w/ unrestrained emotional pathos 😃

Gotchu! :)

So your assertion is that anime is *intrinsically* a better storytelling *medium* than: the rest of animation globally, all of 'film', AND let's say comics/manga?

Curious for your reasons! 😃
And why separate from 'animation'

(Me: I consider it a vibrant part of cinema/motion pictures.)

‪Update: Diamond D's vocals are still in the mix, but Biggie left cuz Ghostface from "Protect Ya Neck" joined in and pretty much took over from there lol‬

‪Which was appropriate because I've been in Staten Island all afternoon haha‬

‪(This blend actually sounds pretty good…)‬

So are you including anime as part of cinema, or are you separating it from the rest of motion pictures as a medium?

And same question, western animation.

Right now my brain has decided to play Biggie rapping "Who Shot Ya" over the beat for Diamond D's "Check One, Two".

With some Diamond D lyrics mixed in there lol

It's always weird spontaneous DJ blends up in here lol

The cynicism of those executing this barbarism upon the trans prison population is real… so yes maybe most of them don't see it as a solution.

But what they are *telling* the world is that this inhumane torture and mistreatment is actually (somehow) a solution to a problem.

Some drank the kool-aid

The guards, the wardens, the people who build the prisons for profit, the lawmakers who promise those builders that there will continue to be a steady supply of new inmates to fill up new prisons….

It's a real bleak situation. Mass incarceration is inhumane. Black ppl are disproportionately jailed…

Doesn't seem to work for people with custom domain handles :(

Yeah & that's definitely what it is for this administration. 100%. It's a *super* cynical. Meaning it doesn't even matter what they DO believe privately.

It's all about using trans folk as both a punching bag AND the scary new boogieman in order to rile up the most mentally vulnerable of their base

But NOW on that topic, I do think you'd be surprised how many conservatives legitimately believe that serious problems are being solved by this ham-fisted and backwards "solution".

It's too easy to fall back on easy stereotypes when attempting to understand vast groups. Sometimes ppl are just wrong

Yes, exactly 🙏 It .*appeared* that way. It's ultimately my responsibility to make sure I'm understood, even with few words.

In public service, nuts-n-bolts-wise there is often the veneer of "solve the problem for all". Regardless of how cynical the people involved on all levels really are. 1/2

Exactly. That's the point. It's not a solution in the slightest, let alone a humane one.

Please, don't put words in my mouth. That wasn't AT ALL what I was (attempting) to communicate. (I could've been more clear.)

I'm talking about how the US prison system is built on an inherently cruel premise,

1 year ago 0 0 1 0

They look at this as solving a problem because inmates were getting pregnant from other inmates.

I would say this isn't the solution because there are no easy solutions in incarceration.

No humane ones anyway....

Has anyone yet rapped over the beat for Kendrick's Not Like Us but on the hook instead going:

"🎵🎶 dun-dun dun dun //
They not that tough //
They not that tough //
They not that tough...."

Feels like a missed opportunity lol

That's a good enough explanation on a surface level, and I appreciate your effort a lot. Thank you!

But he has so many daily routines dedicated to recovery & reflection. Relearning to control one of his hands, physical therapy, speech practice, et cetera.

So idk… might be some other explanation….

Power doesn't corrupt.

Attracts the corrupt, yes.

And it *indirectly* tests you by enabling you to find and create opportunities to misuse it.

But power itself doesn't corrupt. It only gives you more options.

What you do with them speaks to your character.

It's OK to struggle b4 choosing right!

I have a friend who is actively recovering from a stroke 2.5 years ago & is now taking Lion's Mane Extract with "Stamets 7" every day. In his mid 30s.

He claims "I noticed very immediately my brain is improving".

Is this placebo? Can stroke patients HAVE placebo? Or is there something to it?

When you lose someone, it's okay to fall apart. Grieve however you want.

Had a friend tell me to pull myself together… but really just 2 mix his song smh. Once even let anger slip in his voice…

(Just don't do it in front of moms… or whoever else is equal to you or closer in the circle of grief.)
