AST ACADEMY 🍎⛈️ Here's a big shoutout to this amazing group of 3rd graders at Woodrow Cummins Elem. in Conway!
Thanks so much to Mrs. Parks for inviting me out to speak with them about severe weather preparedness. It was a pleasure spending time with such curious and engaged students! #ARwx

ALERT DAY⛈️ We'll be monitoring the risk for strong to severe storms on Friday, and there could be additional alert days issued Sunday and Monday.
Stay with the #ARStormTeam for updates. #ARwx
HEADS UP⛈️ Strong to severe storms will be possible on Friday, including a low-end risk for damaging wind, hail and perhaps a brief tornado.
The main threat will be in the late afternoon and evening hours. But if morning showers and storms linger, the risk could be a bit lower. #ARwx
FRIDAY⛈️ Our next risk for severe storms is Friday, but if storms fire up too early in the day.. The risk could be lower and a bit farther south and east.
Then we have to watch for another round into the weekend, specifically Saturday night into Sunday. Stay with the #ARStormTeam for updates. #ARwx
Another great shot of a halo around the sun this Tuesday afternoon near Judsonia.
Thanks to Linda Sinkey for sharing this pic! #ARwx

Big thanks to Janna Virden for sharing this great picture. #ARwx

Thanks so much to Kenneth Howell for sharing this pic! #ARwx

Thanks to Donnie Martin for sharing this picture. #ARwx
THIS MONTH🌧️ On average, April is our wettest month of the year with most of Central Arkansas typically picking up about 5-6 inches for the month.
But we're now two-thirds of the way through and we've only picked up 1.17" so far! So the drought continues... #ARwx
NEW INFO🌪️ The NWS in Tulsa says the two tornadoes that crossed into Washington Co. out of OK late Tue. night were rated EF-1. This now makes 11 tornadoes this year in AR.
Winds were estimated between 90 & 105 mph with both tornadoes, which affected areas southwest of Fayetteville. #ARwx
FRIDAY⛈️ Storms return late this week as a cold front approaches from the west. Some storms could arrive Thursday night in northwest Arkansas, but our greatest risk comes Friday.
Damaging wind, hail and tornadoes will be possible. Stay with the #ARStormTeam for updates in the coming days. #ARwx
A few additional storms will be possible this Thursday afternoon and evening across parts of central and northern Arkansas.
The severe risk is low to very low. Hail may be the greater risk with these storms, along with a very low wind and tornado risk. #ARwx
Great shot of this ring around the sun seen this afternoon in Monticello.
Thanks to Toni Etue for sharing this picture from southeast Arkansas. #ARwx
WEDNESDAY⛈️ More strong to severe storms will be possible in the afternoon & evening, primarily across NW AR, though some could hold together as they approach Central Arkansas.
Damaging wind will be the main risk. But a brief tornado can't be ruled out. The #ARStormTeam will have you covered. #ARwx
WEDNESDAY NIGHT⛈️ Our rain chances are very low here across Central Arkansas, but a few strong to severe storms will be possible Wednesday afternoon and evening in far northwest Arkansas.
If you're traveling northwest of here, be mindful of this. #ARwx
LITTLE TO NO RELIEF😔 New model data shows a striking void of rainfall that lines up almost exactly with the drought footprint across the state.
Most of this rain appears to favor NW and perhaps even SE Arkansas, leaving the most drought-stricken parts of the state drier than once thought. #ARwx
TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY🌩️ The threats for severe storms should stay far to our west.. But a few strong storms could stray into the River Valley and western Arkansas on Wednesday.
We may see a similar trend late this week. Stay with the #ARStormTeam for updates. #ARwx
THIS WEEK🌧️ Although the chances are pretty low, we're finally getting some rain this week. A few showers will be possible today, but our next best chances comes late in the week.
The severe threats should stay north and west of us as well. As storms weaken, some rain will spread across AR. #ARwx
NEXT WEEK👀 As of now, it appears our next threat for severe storms may come on Wednesday... But that's assuming storms make it this far east.
The SPC still has the northwestern half of the state in a low risk for Wed. Stay with the #ARStormTeam for updates to see if this remains the case. #ARwx
4:44 PM UPDATE - It's great to see SOME rain on radar this Friday afternoon.
It isn't much, but we are tracking a few brief downpours tracking through the Ouachitas and Arkansas River Valley. #ARwx
Have you ever felt like there are parts of AR that are ALWAYS getting tornado warnings while others are rarely touched?
Christopher Pipkin has written a great blog post about it, ranking the most and least tornado warned locations in the state. #ARwx

FRIDAY⛅ A couple of strong storms could reach far northern AR, but these will likely fall apart as they move south into drought-stricken area.
So for most of us, all we can expect is a brief shower. Our best rain chances hold off until early next week, and even those chances are pretty low. #ARwx
VERY LITTLE RAIN🌧️ Even though rain chances return next week, the amounts are looking lower and lower as models hold most of it to our west.
There will be some spots that end up with less than an inch of rain over the next seven days--especially across eastern Arkansas. #ARwx
NEXT WEEK👀 Rain chances gradually return early next week, most of which will benefit the western half of the state.
Unfortunately, the much-needed rain will come with a severe risk. Now it appears Mon/Tue storms will involve mostly western/NW Ark. Central AR may see greater chances Wed. #ARwx
DROUGHT UPDATE💧 Despite this past weekend's rainfall, the drought situation has not changed with this morning's update.
Most of the state still needs about 20-25" or more by mid-July to end the drought before the dry season rolls around. #ARwx
DRIEST ON RECORD💧 This is a record we absolutely did NOT want to break... But here we are.
The 5 month stretch from November 2025 to March 2026 was the driest we've ever seen. In fact, we ended up with less than half of our average during those months. #ARwx
HEADS UP🔥 A grassfire alongside the northbound lanes of I-530 is causing a big back-up near the Pulaski/Saline County line near Bingham Road.
Expect delays if your commute takes you through this area south of Little Rock this Wednesday evening. #ARwx
Another great shot of cloud iridescence seen this afternoon over Hot Springs.
Thanks to Eric Brockette for sharing this picture. #ARwx
Check out this picture of what appears to be a rainbow colored cloud!
This is called cloud iridescence, which happens when the sun shines through a thin cloud made of up ice crystals, creating a prism in the sky. Thanks to Lorraine Otwell for sharing this pic from Malvern. #ARwx
EARLY NEXT WEEK⛈️ Rain chances are finally going to return past this weekend... But so will the severe risk.
We're already monitoring a risk on Monday across western Arkansas, and perhaps across the rest of the state on Tuesday. Stay with the #ARStormTeam for updates. #ARwx
