The Casa Lenin, 1936, La Rambla 122, now gone, International Section of POUM+ ILP office. George Orwell turned up here on 26 Dec 1936 to volunteer in the POUM militia. Note the juxtaposition of Lenin's name with Mickey Mouse, a hugely popular figure in Barcelona at the time, to the right.

Even during the "ceasefire", the Israelis are still demolishing entire villages in southern Lebanon with armored bulldozers. In fact, civilian contractors hired by the army receive pay which is based on the number of buildings destroyed.
