Alive, happy, a good deal of fun, seems to still like his parents and want to hang out with us, I think we might have just pulled it off somehow 🥰

15 this year. Taller than me now - has been for some time!

Saw 2025 in on the couch with the Teen and the large dog, a packet of gingerbread Oreos, summer fruits squash, watching Ted (his choice - opened up some, uh, ‘casual discussions’.) The cat was asleep in a box in the hall, as is his wont when it’s windy. Liking 2025 so far. Think I’ll stick with it.

12,000 fireworks apparently. Bloody marvellous effort.

Paddington at the end made me (and the boy) a bit emosh. And the D-Day voices.

Knightleys best performance to date I think; she suits the dark gritty violence in a very surprising way

OH I’ve just read that she plays ALL THREE WITCHES. I may combust with glee

(She was the wife of the mayor)

Oooh thanks for the recommendation, I can imagine she would absolutely knock that out of the park. Look forward to seeing it!

She’s phenomenal. Such a rich and engaging actor. Thanks for the heads up on this!

In the past few days I’ve binge watched Black Doves, Poor Things and Megalopolis, and have concluded that I now want to watch every single thing Aikaterina Hadjipateras (aka Kathryn Hunter) has ever been in. I’m obsessed. I adore her. What a phenomenal actor.

“When I was growing up, our home was my family’s security. We can’t build a strong future for our country unless people have a safe home today”

Exactly. Like how dare I care for and treat a sick animal. Absolute monster 👹

Because several of the cats previous treatments weren’t covered by the insurance so I cancelled it and opted to save the difference. The dogs insurance has been fine so far. Not sure why it’s any of anyone else’s business tbh, weird thing for strangers to get hung up on

I mean, I’d try it

I’m not sure AI is advanced enough to imitate my particular brand of chaos 😂

Precisely, which is why I binned it off and opted to put the equivalent aside each month instead. Worked for us, but might not be for everyone.

‘Pets can be put down’ isn’t the flex you think it is. They’re family here.

Why? His treatment was paid for and he got everything he needed, and it still worked out cheaper than it would have been to have paid the insurance over the same time period. I chose to pay into savings as a prudent reserve instead of insurance; whats possibly irresponsible about that?

Good lord, they’re absolute scamps aren’t they?! (Cats, not vets!)

1 year ago 3 0 0 0

ETA: our vet is fantastic, doesn’t do anything extraneous, is fully upfront with costs and information before undertaking any procedures, and is realistic about what’s necessary and what isn’t. This wasn’t a poke at vets, who are remarkable human beings, it’s a warning about selling off the NHS.

That’s exactly what I did, put the amount we would have paid in insurance into a separate savings pot that luckily covered most of it. Bloody hell, though.

Oh my vet is lovely and doesn’t do anything unnecessary. He’s very kind and knowledgable (and absolutely loves Cooper, as does everyone!)

(The cat has kidney disease. I suspected something was up as he’s been chronically thirsty lately and a bit incontinent. His prescription diet is now going to cost more than mine and the Teens weekly food shop combined. But I love this cantankerous fluffy wee git, so, we do what we have to do.)
