It is good to see Jane's sacrifice being recognised. We remember her and the girls.
Sur Eigg, s'épanouit une communauté qui, loin de l'agitation mondaine, a su tisser sa propre utopie, capteur solaire et éolienne en main. Un récit visuel de Charles Delcourt à découvrir.

Happy birthday Ben from Bristol, England!
A photo of a sandy beach on the Isle of Eigg, off the north-west coast of Scotland. There are gentle waves lapping on the sand stretching into the blue sea in the distance. There are green hills on the right of the photo while further beyond there are mountains silhouetted against the blue sky. Photo taken by Corinne Thompson.
A photo taken looking out to sea on Handa Island, off the north-west coast of Scotland. The photo is tinged orange by the setting sun which is sitting low in the sky and directly in the centre of the shot. In the foreground there is rocky patches of grass while beyond the sea stretches away to silhouetted mountains on the horizon. There are two people standing on the grass also silhouetted in the light. Photo taken by Danni Thompson.
A photo taken from the cliffs on Handa Island off the north-west coast of Scotland. The photo is looking across to another rugged cliff face topped with scrubby green grass. The clif is stained white in multiple places indicating seabird nests. Below, the sea is deep blue with large areas of white water where the sea meets the rocky shore. Photo taken by Dannin Thompson on the Scottish Wildlife Trust's Handa Island Wildlife Reserve.
A photo taken of Boulders Bay on Handa Island, off the north-west coast of Scotland. In the foreground, there is a rocky beach scattered with large boulders. Closer to the sea there are patches of seaweed clinging to the rocks. Beyond, the sea stretches round the rocky island coast, reaching silhouetted mountains on the mainland in the distance. Photo taken by Camilla Blasi Foglietti.

Baroness Warsi and Selina Scott walks were excellent. It went downhill when walkers' feelings grew in prominence.

Intrigued by the idea of Matthew Rhys starring in a Netflix limited series adaptation of THE POWER BROKER, but honestly you could do 6-8 hours just on the Cross Bronx Expressway or Robert Moses vs. Jane Jacobs.
‘A lot of the non-recyclable plastic that we in the global north produce ends up getting exported to other parts of the world where it becomes someone else's problem.’

More than tax or public services, Labour’s singular pitch - to the electorate, investors and allies - was the promise of a decade of stable technocratic leadership after the “Tory psychodrama”. A party incapable of delivering that is going to have to find better pretexts than “but my activists”
Terrorism! Torture! Oppression! Liberation! Defeat! Victory! This week we're watching the movie that has it all: The Battle of Algiers. Is it a training film for rebels or counter-insurgents? How does it manage to be, in the words of Roger Ebert, "both passionate and neutral"?

Harry Wingfield, of the Ladybird books and others, is among the most underestimated illustrators of C20.
One of the best exhibitions I have been (I have been to 100s) was a retrospective of his original work in Walsall.
Follow @lbflyawayhome.bsky.social for regular servings of Ladybird goodness.
This is the book that @mrjamesob.bsky.social just discussed with #RussellScott. In a sane country, the Tories would be finished for good

Deep water swallowing a few volunteers for a moment.
Volunteers in ankle deep water slashing and pulling invasive Himalayan balsam.
Lots of Himalayan balsam laying on the ground, slashed and pulled from a river edge.
Today an army of volunteers from Bristol River Avon Trust and @protect.earth joined forces to smash Himalayan Balsam on the Bristol Frome. The group of 40 volunteers cleared from Iron Acton to Frampton Cotterell, joining up with existing local groups work through Yate to the source at Doddington.
