So good. Final rehearsal. So happy to be playing with like-minded people. Three pros (and me) - locked in.

Simmerdown Productions has a new release featuring Big Youth coming out later this year! Look for “Six Out of Seven Skies,” coming soon. Happy birthday, Big Youth!
Rehearsal is ramping up ahead of studio time next weekend!
Had to turn down a good gig today. I hate that!
My friend is sending me the HD version, so you’ll soon be able to see me fuck up in high definition!
Botched the second verse because I was nervous, but damn, I love this band! Me doing some Fishbone Karaoke.
I think I may be the only person who thoroughly enjoys Almond Joys.
I went to The Titanic exhibit at OMSI today and then went to The Titanic showing at Hollywood Theater with my Titanic Fanatic friend. And it was lovely. I need more friends like this.
I’m going into the studio for the first time in ages later this month. And I am ready. It is sounding so good. SDP024 later this summer!
And somehow, I’m the dickhead for pointing out that it’s “not a cool thing to do.” Oh well.🤷🏼♂️
Now…for the second time this year, a local promoter has booked a big DJ night before looking at the calendar. His event will be on the same night that a popular touring band is coming through town and he’s going to split the crowd. That’s not how you build or support the scene. Just my two cents.2/2
I’ve long held that one way to grow a local ska scene is not to counter-program if you are in a smaller scene - don’t try to book a show/event the same night that a touring band comes through town. You’ll typically split the crowd and bands/promoters/venues lose money. 1/2
My right knee covered in an Old Bones Therapy purple and black compression sleeve.
Right knee surgery in mid-June. My surgeon is legendary when it comes to this specific surgery and I am looking forward to it.
10/10 from the Southeast Portland judge.
Instead of investing in stocks, I invested in the only commodities that never lose value - ska and punk records, and comic books.
I’m going to record two scorching skinhead reggae (very jazzy) instrumentals with a friend in a couple weeks. And then he’s moving out of town. I’ve known him since we were ‘kids’. It’s a capstone to our friendship. I’m going to miss him.
7" of Rupie Edwards - Ire Feelings (Skanga) on Cactus label. Released in 1974. Produced by Rupie Edwards.
Very sad to hear legendary producer Rupie Edwards has died aged 80.
Rupie produced early singles by Gregory Isaacs and Mighty Diamonds.
His innovative work peaked in 1974 when this groundbreaking 7" made the UK Top 10...

The only thing left is the artwork, which will require two photo shoots over the summer.
That is a wonderful (awful) story. I am so happy your weirdo is back. Give him a pet from me (after you are done vacuuming.)
Bless you, Teddy! I’m sorry about your ears.
JAB, Poison Idea, Big Youth, Eric Blowtorch, Dennis Bovell, Western Standard Time, and ‘secret rocksteady project.’ It’s going to be awesome!
Jerry A. of Poison Idea screaming into a microphone.
I’m going to be releasing a Poison Idea split 7” in the coming months! Details soon!
Spending the day dealing with a loved one in the emergency room (they’re on the mend) just sucks.
All good!
7" of Derrick Morgan - You Were Wrong aka Majorie on Prince Buster Voice Of The People label. Released in 1962. Produced by Prince Buster.
1/7 🧵
It was ska legend Derrick Morgan's 86th birthday yesterday. Here's a musical (war) thread in his honour.
We're starting off in 1961, when Derrick recorded a handful of tunes for Prince Buster, like this one...

The Dandy Warhols’ new album “Pin-Ups,” among with an autographed postcard.
Every time this band releases a new record, I feel like a brand new papa. One of these days, I’ll share the behind-the-scenes story of how I got @dandywarhols.com their first recording contract. Oh…Thor.
I suspected as much. Fuck them guys.
I’m just going off the top of my head, but @dandywarhols.com didn’t include, on their new album “Pin Ups,” their covers of David Bowie, Neil Young, Gordon Lightfoot, and Ted Nugent. Are there more? I refuse to use the interwebs at the moment. Did an AC/DC cover exist as well?
This morning someone who has created an “AI ska artist” followed me on Instagram. They call their computer-generated ska singer “Lola Dune” and I blocked that shit instantly. If that is you, or someone you know, I want to say to you/them, very loudly, “FUCK NO!”
Still here.
