watched The Pitt episode 2x13 and then neither of the subsequent ones; maybe I’ll want to watch them at some point in the future? I don’t know
the last episode has an unexpected moment of compassion that I’m going to think about for a long time
I really liked How to Get to Heaven From Belfast. like an eight episode thesis on blame (how much *should* you carry?) with jokes
ngl this is - and I am saying this as the child of a former nun - blowing my mind
had been sleeping exceptionally badly last week so went to yoga four (4) times this week. then I slept much, much better. ugh
I do enjoy the genuinely-caring-while-creatively-insulting style of leadership. in fiction
extremely funny and charming and also! the music is excellent
my favourite thing about Heated Rivalry is that it’s the reason I ended up watching Shoresy, which is extremely funny but also charming and I recommend it
the tv show - he had something to do with pitching/creating the original iteration? he’s brought it up a few times on this podcast en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Res...
Richard Osman casually saying that the idea for Survivor came while watching a production of Huis Clos - I feel like my entire perception of the 90s just shifted
again, the patriarchy is alive and well in music spaces and I hope it didn’t sound like I was suggesting that there is no gender bullshit? It just occurred to me that it’s not the relentlessly in your face kind we would’ve had to deal with in some other art forms
the way you would if you were learning how to make a film by watching idk Fellinis, or how to paint/sculpt by looking at Michelangelos, or learning to write by reading Dickens
oh for sure the patriarchy is alive and well in music spaces, which I guess is why it never occurred to me to think abou how, say, it you’re learning how to put a series of notes together to play, say, a Vivaldi concerto, you’re not having to look weird gender stuff in the face for hours
thank you, friend ❤️
that’s it that’s my thought! happy easter, pocket friends
and I started to say “it must be hard for students in film school who probably *have* to watch a bunch of patriarchy content” but then I thought that it was the same for everybody probably like for visual art or creative writing or… and that’s when my brain went, oh wait a minute
A. and I were talking about like… Bond films I guess? And I was trying to explain that there are lots of films I wouldnmt *mind* watching, like in a broad cultural knowledge way, but that I don’t always feel able to cope with period-typical gender crap
something that had literally never occurred to me until today: if you’re learning to make music, and you’re doing that by studying the music that other people made before you, gender stuff probably doesn’t come up as much as it would with other art forms
oh my god yes that is it exactly
I’m so bored, just so unreasonably bored
I tried to engage other cousins in conversation and they were polite and we all tried but it’s hopeless, friends, I can’t get interested in conversations about cars, suburbs, personal trainers, or vacations in all inclusive resorts and they can’t get interested in music, books, or museums
funfact I just spent 5min trying to figure out how you say “cogner des clous” in English but I think maybe there’s no equivalent expression? It means “nodding off” sort of
I have my knitting but I’ve done like 1/4 of this shawl and now I’m starting to falls asleep oh god
at family event but the cousins with whom I have stuff in common aren’t here, send help

condolences, friend
