If anyone has any leads on archaeological jobs or projects needing staff, I’d be really grateful. I’m in Berlin and can’t relocate but can travel. 25 years as a human bioarchaeologist but can’t find a job despite multiple applications and I’m facing having to leave the profession this autumn 😢

Looking for a job after my research scholarship ends (this month). I’m a bioarchaeologist with 20+ years experience in fieldwork and lab analysis, plus experience with CAD and Photoshop to produce plans, maps etc. I’m looking for something in Germany, my German is at B1/B2. Any leads would be great!
Can’t wait! Will the audio versions be delayed unless you’re using Sounds or subscribe to Sounds? It’s happened to another BBC podcast I listen to and I’m not sure I can wait an extra month to hear Uncanny episodes!
Found out a few days ago that the Gerda Henkel have extended my scholarship by 6 months. Big relief and a chance to better finish off my research in Addis (though it’ll never be completely finished, what project is?). Still looking for my next job though, any opportunities very welcome!
Final research report for my Gerda-Henkel-Stiftung scholarship finished today, 18 reports written over the last two years. On to new things in January (if I can find a job!)
I’ve been told that I should try and prepare funding applications for various projects I want to do, but without a salaried position (and soon with no position at all), I have to spend that time working to earn money. I don’t have the energy to do it in my “spare time” #archaeology
My husband tried twice to get a visitor visa to see my family (we don’t live in the U.K.), and he was refused, with unfounded claims that our relationship was fake and he would stay in the U.K. (when he has no ties there and has a job and children in the country where we live). Open borders my arse!
My Gerda-Henkel scholarship is almost over and I’m now looking for new projects. I’ve been an osteoarchaeologist for 20 years, and have extensive experience working on site and with museum collections in various countries. I’m based in Berlin but can travel. If anyone has any openings, let me know!
Recording (empty) graves in a cave behind a church, a service started and trapped me for 3 hours. Two of which I couldn’t do anything because all the equipment I needed was outside and nobody could come in either!
Welcome to Addis! This is the view out of my bedroom window…at 22:41. Night night!
Safely arrived in Addis and welcomed with flowers from my colleagues in the National Museum
Leaving for Addis in a little under an hour. Sixth visit since Jan 2023 and almost certainly the last funded by my Gerda-Henkel-Stiftung scholarship. Looking forward to doing a bit of excavation this time, makes a change from being in the museum and excited to see what we will find!
I’m sure I listened to a podcast about Annie that tried to find evidence to back up the story of the drowned woman and couldn’t really find any, suggesting it might just be a romantic story. Can’t remember which podcast though!
Hello all! I never posted much over at the other place but maybe I should try and do more here. I’ll see if I can post some stuff during my upcoming fieldwork in Ethiopia with the SolZag Project (Solzagproject.org). I’ll never ever be close to being @flintdibble.bsky.social but I’ll try my best!
