It also restores the original constitutional balance by reshaping the electoral college: The House and the Presidency for the large states, the Senate for the small ones.

My real Holy Grail is uncapping the House. Smaller districts, harder to gerrymander and more swingy. More members and staffs to do the actual governing. More coalition politics. Members closer to their voters.
I tend to agree with you. Mainly because the current system protects most incumbents, of both parties. Most current members of Congress have shown they don’t care about being ineffective if they can keep their jobs.
Oh sure, the US didn’t fall into one-party Comminist or Fascist rule. And we won a world war. But what were the ROIs on his programs measured against contemporary for-profit business standards?
That roster was atrocious though. We had the A team for Nations League and looked great. And then we brought maybe a C roster to the Gold Cup. It’s fair to say they still should have been more cohesive by the end. But US Soccer waved the white flag before that tourney.
Do you think this was his idea? Or do we have a US soccer sicko as a photographer?
I’ve been saying this for more than a decade: The moment CONCACAF abandons a match and the home side forfeits because of the chant, that will be the last time we ever hear it. It only needs to be done once. Real accountability.
You can keep the forcing out party rolling from Philly down to DC too. They could take the train from HQ in Manhattan.
Our national team should boycott our own home World Cup
claire hutton might make the mvp shortlist based solely on how bad kc look without her
I did not like the Croix move. Letting a player like that become unhappy is stupid. But letting a player like Hutton become unhappy enough to ask for a move is franchise-altering stupid.
This side is begging for Sullivan to be fit. They just can’t progress the ball through the center of the park.
When Philly’s corner-cutting ownership is making you look bad (and it does)….man.
Well I certainly can’t argue with that sentiment!
While I dislike super clubs, I also don’t find it healthy to have clubs fall apart from one season to another. I generally like periods where a few teams or one dynasty rule the roost based on smart management and talent. But then those eras transition into new ones with different teams on top.
McIver is going to cost this team 6-9 points by herself this year. Has shown nothing at positive in a game and a half and has already given away one massive blunder.
You have to show her inside there and make her finish with her left. Because she can’t do it. It’s insane that Rudd lets her continue on her right. Emma Sears is a wild insane athlete. But has no left foot.
These are A+++ wonderful soccer environments. I strongly believe that even many elite European sides would struggle playing competitive matches in Mexico. When your side is being outspent and the stadium is so intimidating? Pffft, game over. Let alone the altitude at some locations.
Alexandria? Small? It’s smack in the middle of the DMV. It used to be part of DC. This is a list of inner ring suburbs.
Ominous
Biggest missing name to me is Noahkai Banks.
Certainly did not help. But there were plenty of matches last year where they could not get Croix the ball either. Just so damn static. I’m putting a lot of hope in Andi Sullivan coming back.
Very ugly. The Spirit continue to struggle to progress the ball at all against teams that play negative.
I disagree. I think a fair end to that one was 0-0. Neither team generated much at all. Portland turned one of the few direct balls from either team into the goal. But the Spirit were putrid. The Rebe-Hal combo saw so little of the ball and could not progress it.
Great call on Morgan. She’s made a few potentially sticky situations look routine. But otherwise…ick.
Looked like two teams still in preseason. Most of that half was played at a walking pace.
Great preview. My #1 question for the whole NWSL is closely tied to the Spirit. Can an NWSL champion dominate the ball and actually carry play? Or will be continue to see only counterattackers lift trophies?
Perhaps the #1 goal of both the MLS and NWSL caps is to suppress the salaries of veteran American players. They will spend to bring foreign players in or to keep the marketable stars. But they really don’t want to salaries increase for the backbone of the league.
They won after suffering TWO reds and TWO penalties! 9 on 12 at the end.
That was the coldest I have ever felt at a DCU match. Wind straight into the face of the side opposite the benches where the supporters stood.
