Truth Social post by Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump 24 Oct 2024

Arab Voters are very upset that Comrade Kamala Harris, the Worst Vice President in the History of the United States and a Low IQ individual, is campaigning with "dumb as a rock" War Hawk, Liz Cheney, who, like her father, the man that pushed Bush to ridiculously go to War in the Middle East, also wants to go to War with every Muslim Country known to mankind. Remember, Liz Cheney lost her Congressional Seat by the LARGEST margin, 40%, in History for a sitting Congressperson. If Kamala gets four more years, the Middle East will spend the next four decades going up in flames, and your kids will be going off to War, maybe even a Third World War, something that will never happen with President Donald J. Trump in charge. For our Country's sake, and for your kids, Vote Trump for PEACE!

I clicked on the picture and its unexpected increase in size was the same fright as when Bilbo briefly turns nasty at Frodo. Agree though, could work - the hobbits recalling their adventures from a cosy tavern, get us back in Hobbiton and then back into the adventure etc. just dont make it 3 hours?!

That businessman who’s suing us for £250,000 didn’t turn up to court Two Italian doctor’s notes and ‘unsatisfactory’ conduct from Claudio Di Giovanni

Update on our libel case 🚨 - the businessman suing us didn’t turn up to the high court for the first hearing. Judge was unimpressed with his medical evidence.

Fighting these threats to journalism in the UK is frustrating and expensive but we will win.

‘Absolute hell’: Irishman with valid US work permit held by Ice since September Seamus Culleton has been in a detention facility in Texas for nearly five months despite having no criminal record

This is absolutely insane. The sort of Kafka-esque nightmare you would find in a Philip K Dick book set far in the dystopian future. A window on America tumbling into autocracy.

The new inspections mean schools must change their expectations One trust leader who has experienced Ofsted’s new inspection process says the bar has been raised, with the new ‘expected standard’ requiring genuinely high-quality provision

Interesting take on the new Ofsted framework here, arguing that terms like 'expected standard' and 'needs attention' need to be seen for their true meaning, rather than concerning or underwhelming judgements www.tes.com/magazine/ana...

Would an under-16s social media ban help schools? The government is considering restricting or banning children’s use of social media. How might this impact schools?

It’s been a busy week for the under‑16s social media debate, with a govt consultation & a Lords vote.

Teachers are one of the best gauges of how students are faring online. They tell me how the darker sides of social media can often spill inside the school gates.

Dickens himself could write in shorthand - so much so that many letters he wrote in his own adapted version of it have been incredibly hard to crack: le.ac.uk/dickens-code. I remember that feeling from reading back my own shorthand on many occasions.

Still enjoying the wonderful story of David Copperfield and got to this hilarious section on shorthand. This isn’t even Teeline he’s discussing but something far more complex - but as any shorthand novice will tell you it certainly is a blur of “despotic characters”.

One stat I found especially shocking was that 76 per cent of respondents saying they think student mental health and wellbeing is worse than it was 10 years ago. Given the last decade it's not surprising but still a bleak assessment of the lives young people are seemingly leading.

I shared this on LinkedIn and it got some nice engagement so worth doing so here - Charles Dickens writing in 1850 and using the same language and concepts as how many modern school leaders talk about the importance of community in schools to engage pupils. He also used em dashes!
