I'm working on a video that I've spent way more effort on than it's probably worth but I was really not liking it. So I cut a bunch out and now I'm a bit happier

Here's a break down of the steps to produce the result.
On the left are two raw noise patterns
Those get thresholded to b/w, they're the bitplanes
They get decoded into pixels for each colour
Then the colours are applied
Finally the 4 sets of pixels are combined into the 8x8 tile
how:
It uses 2 8x8 bit planes constructed from fast noise nodes passed through bitmap nodes to threshold the pixels to b/w.
I pass them through what's basically a decoder constructed with channel boolean nodes to select 1 of 4 colours for each pixel.
why:
good question
Am I making a 2-bit-per-pixel palette-based rendering for a randomized 8x8 tile in davinci resolve fusion?
...
yes
#davinciresolve
That's a singular problem
That's awesome. My video won't tell you anything you don't know about pico-8 but hopefully it has other stuff you might find interesting!
Hm, I didn't expect the views on this to flatline so quickly
Oh well, at least I had fun with it and I'm satisfied with how it turned out. It also gave me an excuse to play with blender, so that was fun!
I think I learned more making this video than I have in a while
Interested in making a retro style game but not what options are out there? Here are 7 paths you can take to get started: youtu.be/ayrthveE1bQ
Just discovered that if you cmd-tab to get the app switcher then press down when the app you want is highlighted it will give you that app's window selector so you can bring up just the window you want from a different app.
I've also been using an app called AltTab to get non-mac style switching
Making good priorities again! and more #blender playing
The game boy is actually a 3d model that I made and textured. Couldn't have just used a flat image, nope.
The moving grids are animated tiled textures. The "road" uses an image sequence, the "floor" animates by moning the UV coords.
she told me I'd understand when I was older, then she'd sigh and look wistfully at her soldering iron
My momma used to always say a Garbo diode is worth the bulk order
Made some more movie covers to add variety
Added more detail to this #blender scene. I think the improvement-to-effort ratio is getting a lot lower now though...
There are a few details I want to add, and probably make more movie covers. I'm not sure if it's getting close to "good enough" though ๐ฌ
a 3d render of a bunch of forward facing stacks of movie cases placed in a 6x6 grid, like they might be placed in a video rental store. Each stack has a random number of copies between 0 and 5. Each copy in the stacks have a random side to side shift to give a more organic look.
Trying to get some randomization going. I have the number of copies in each stack randomized and each copy in a stack has a random side to side shift so they look more natural.
I also want more movie covers but that requires making a bunch more of them
a 3d render of a retail shelf rack with wire shelves containing DVD boxes. The boxes are for a movie titled "Like & Subscribe The Movie" with a picture of my face
more blender work on the shelves. Look at all those copies of the exciting new thriller!
maybe I should finish the script for the video this is for...
a 3d rendering of a wire shelf
look as this beautiful wire shelf I made!
I wanted to see if I could add myself to the blockbuster scene. Looks very "green screeny" but still pretty good for a first try.
I did the my rotation by just spinning on my heel.
pro tip, if you don't know about seams and marking seams in blender then UV unwrapping doesn't make any sense
Learning!
write one simple line in a script and suddenly I'm thinking about modeling an aisle in a blockbuster for a dolly zoom
I've been obsessively futzing around with blender motion tracking with no clear goal in mind. I think I've learned a bit and maybe it's given me more idea fodder. Kinda annoying to have my attention so consumed by it though

an image of Alan Turing that's been modified to give him a bit of a smirk and a hand added with fingertips over the mouth as though he's trying to hide the smirk.
truly I am an artist
Thank you! I was worried that I got too skimpy with the visuals
a screenshot from youtube analytics that shows the number of new subscribers from my latest video. It shows -1 subscribers

Yay I'm testing negative now! Soon I'll be able to snuggle my kids again soon!
We fared pretty good. My partner got it but she was better before me and we managed to keep the kids from getting it!
A darkly lit image of me at my desk. Half of my face has lighting, the other is in shadow
also one of my lights was off

I am having a lot of trouble recording this video.
First try I plugged my mic in wrong
then I lost power
second try (on batteries) I ran out of space on my sd card
Hi! I made a Chrome extension that highlights creeps from the Epstein emails. Depending on how much news you read on your computer, enabling it might be really depressing.
