‘Screamadelica’ by Primal Scream, on the Dixie-Narco EP (Movin’ On Up lead track).
This is great news and the new tunes are killer. We toured with P&L back in the day and I have very fond memories, brilliant to have them back!
Picked this up on vinyl for a steal this week, however upon listening it is, annoyingly, the US/European version with different running order and new mixes on 2 tracks. Begs the question who on earth heard the majestic Party Fears Two and thought it needed remixing for the US market? Frustrating.
I think the latter point true. I’m defo less enthused by social media as a whole due to what’s happened on fb/twitter etc. I wonder if there’s potential for a return to localised/themed groups/chatrooms (someone who knows more about this than me could no doubt tell me why that’s unrealistic).
I’ll wind back on calling Carter and The Wonder Stuff rubbish, it’s a bit mean spirited - I had fun listening to that stuff and it set me on a path but I’d never listen to it now and clearly not close to the songwriting genius of Pet Shop Boys.
I loved them as a kid, then spent my early teens listening to rubbish like Carter USM and the Wonder Stuff. I had an epiphany around age 16 when I revisited PSB and immediately realised they were a million times better than 90% of the indie music I had been listening to for the previous 3 years!
What does he bench?
Yeah it’s a condition of entry to the band! We all secretly have tattoos of Jack Davenport’s face.
Luke, I’d be interested to hear what you think of the reunion episode (2007) where they have a barbecue whilst singing along to ‘Design For Life’. Comically awful tv. Although I agree with Jimmy that S2 was really good (hence why I found myself watching the reunion).

This is a From The Oasthouse transcript, surely?
You clearly haven’t heard S Club 7’s ‘Incidents In The Rue Laugier’
Alright, I’m in.
Don’t give me ideas!
There was a TOTS show in Brighton where all 4 of us plus our driver William had to share a room afterwards. I awoke in the night to hear 4 different snorers going in and out of phase, it was positively Reichian.
Love this album. This track and Spinning Away absolute classics.
For years I hoped The Cure would record an album called Keith Jarrett in response to this.
We used to sell this in a sheet music shop I worked in, leading to one extremely irate ‘proper’ classical music customer to brandish it at me and shout the words “You’re selling Bullshit. STOP SELLING BULLSHIT!”
I can safely say that not one player or supporter of either team wanted that VAR intervention at the end there. I generally try and steer clear of being a VAR bore but that was mean-spirited nonsense that leaves both teams worse off.
As ever, no idea how effective this will be but takes 30 seconds and can’t do any harm. notopalantir.goodlawproject.org/email-to-tar...
Great little record fair in The Piper St Leonards today, only a couple of stalls but some great stuff, could easily have spent hundreds but had to limit myself to these 3.
Absolutely sickening but essential read. Thousands reported massacred in one night. It’s a bit nuts how little coverage this has had. www.theguardian.com/global-devel...
Fair do’s, I would far rather you be correct than me on this one!
Depressing thing though is that whilst this policy would be disastrous and lead to loads of additional deaths & injury, it would also be very popular with the British public.
I may go 10 years before my time but my scrambled eggs will live long in legend.
In the intro to Kitchen Confidential Bourdain says that the trick is to always use 4 times as much butter as you think it needs and always use shallots instead of onions (that’s if memory serves me right, it was 25 years ago when I read it!). Advice I’ve stuck by ever since.
