Trump Is Said to Be in Talks to Send Afghans Who Aided U.S. Forces to Congo

This is monstrous. Just profoundly shameful behavior by our government.

“But sometimes rich person give big money to good thing”

Some fucking guy who’s grandpa owned a steel company should not get to single-handedly decide whether a hospital gets built, why are we this comfortable with aristocracy repeating itself

"Sure, he's convinced himself that fucking *Sharia law* is about to take over in fucking *Texas*, truly batshit stuff, but who knows, maybe he's right about Iran. Let's hear him out on AI. Maybe he has a point about tax policy."

No, he probably doesn't! Crazy deluded people very rarely do!

Editorial: Kicking the climate can While leaders argue over affordability and clean-energy developers demand more money, the planet heats up more and more.

If @governor.ny.gov and the Legislature must keep the big picture in mind... if officials are looking to scale back [the CLCPA's] mandates to grease their political prospects in an election year, that’s not leadership; it’s a craven retreat."

Everytime there is a mass shooting, this image comes to mind. People in some of the highest positions of power in our country wearing gun pins. People who claim to be “pro life” and want to “protect the children.” People who claim to follow Jesus.

This is idolatry of guns.

I am watching so many negative ads about Bruce Blakeman, a minor GOP threat to Hochul, across multiple video platforms, paid for by the NY Democratic committee. Just NOW they are thinking "maybe we should spend a little of that cash on something more pressing?" So stupid and asinine.

Our kids are born into a world that worships the automobile and has given over almost every public space. If you think for one second a child/parent isn’t hyper aware of the catastrophic danger of the driver, you might want to talk to one. 1/

Only US Votes Against Women’s Rights Document At UN Commission - Health Policy Watch President of the UN General Assembly Annalena Baerbock told the opening of CSW that the backlash against women's rights "feels as though we are forced to

For the first time in decades, consensus broke at the UN Commission on the Status of Women. The United States cast the lone “no” vote on a document aimed at improving justice systems for women and girls worldwide. Misogyny is the official policy of the US under Trump.

"They were so lucky I was looking"

Ummm no. Stopping in time for a child running onto the street is not heroic/lucky, it is your goddamn obligation as a driver. Cost of entry. Kids are allowed to be unpredictable, you are not.

As the daughter of a Marine Corps veteran, I can attest to this. The quiet part that politicians won’t say out loud is that denying everyday Americans things like college tuition benefits, subsidized housing, and healthcare is a military recruitment tool. They don’t want everyone to have access.

Tesla paid $1 billion in taxes to China & $0 in federal income taxes to the US. At least 88 highly profitable corporations paid $0 federal income tax last year while bringing in $ billions. Disney, CVS, Palantir, Taco Bell & others are making massive profits, paying executives enormous ⬇️

Mamdani hasn't had time to really think about all that space he now has, because he spends most of his time at City Hall and around New York City. He tries to keep a semblance of his old life by getting around the city on foot, by bike or train.

"If you spend every single day driving around in a tinted window security detail, you will have a very specific view of the city," he said. "You actually meet other New Yorkers and you break out of the bubble that so many have come to expect of politics, where politicians only seem to be spending time with other politicians or the people who donated to make them politicians."

I'd say that this applies to anyone traveling in a car in any city. Being in a car versus walking, riding, or taking transit fundamentally changes how you view a place and your relationship to it. I wish more leaders set this kind of example.

In a non car-brained world, the fact that elite cyclists are regularly hit, and often killed, by drivers should lead some of the victim blaming people out there to question what they're saying. You can do everything right and still die.

We're not "extra" dysfunctional on the Lefts. We're just much less resourced. This assessment puts me in the minority on my side of the political spectrum.
