Raised in Brooklyn and across the river in northern NJ. Both neighborhoods had a store on the literal corner referred to by all as "the corner store." Neither was a small grocery store but the place you went to to pick up a newspaper, a magazine; cigs, gum and candy, a bottle of soda. Local hangout!

The fact that this native New Yorker, born and raised in Queens, a self proclaimed man of the people, never heard of a corner store speaks volumes.
