It’s harder now, sure—
to speak and not sound like
you’re drowning others out.
But hard isn’t the same as unfair,
and decency doesn’t cost
as much as you keep telling yourself it does.

The bar is low.
Trip over it if you must—
at least that’s forward motion.
Call it progress.
Dare anyone to argue.

Some hearts are built like gardens—
room for more than one bloom,
each with its own sun,
its own season,
and no need to wither for the others to thrive.

Rain tapping like it knows something I don’t.
I’ve been sad all day for no good reason,
and tired for every one I can’t say out loud.
Still—
I’m letting the gloom sit with me
instead of fighting it off.

They did it in daylight—
no masks, no shame, no clever code.
Just cruelty,
so loud and blatant
we mistook it for satire.
Truth isn’t stranger than fiction—
just easier to scroll past.

Some days I am all questions,
no answers,
but still—
the sun shows up,
and so do I.

Apparently using em dashes and ellipses makes me an AI impostor now.
God forbid a human likes rhythm and breath.
Every community eventually devours itself—just give it time and a stupid enough excuse.
Also, anti-AI sentiment is ableism and elitism and gatekeeping at its worst, FWIW.

They say don’t air your dirty laundry.
But this is poetry.
I wash it slow. I hang it high.
I hope the neighbors read every line.
