A screenshot of the Framework website's Linux landing page. At the top, a large headline reads "Designed for a Linux-first experience," centered above an illustration of a black gear, an orange pixelated heart, and Tux the Linux penguin. Below the graphics, a section titled "How we work with Linux distributions" details the company's upstream design approach and multi-level collaboration to ensure broad compatibility. A following section titled "Official partners" explains that Ubuntu and Fedora are officially supported distributions, noting deep engineering collaboration and the provision of official customer support for these specific distros.

AI Use Appears to Have a "Boiling Frog" Effect on Human Cognition, New Study Warns A new study claims to offer the first causal link between AI dependency and cognitive erosion. Researchers warn of long-term implications.

NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.

"People’s persistence drops... they’re also not willing to try without AI.”

ChatGPT is a website. Claude is a website. I will never respect a website. You cannot convince me to treat LLMs as anything different to any other technology. If a website only gets things right sometimes, it's a bad website. I will not be told otherwise.

Modern DRAM is based on a brilliant design from IBM.

But, we're still paying for a latency penalty that's existed since the 60s!

In this video, I'm introducing my research project (Tailslayer) that immensely reduces p99.99 latency on traditional RAM!

OK, no, I won't delete that, let's just pick this apart real quick:

What I believe Silicon Valley has largely just... completely forgotten about is that people just want Shit that Works.

I can tell they're forgetting about this because their shit keeps not working through no fault of mine!

Why should any political donations other than a standard annual party membership fee (say £25) be permitted?
All other options allow wealthy people disproportionate political influence.

Read an amazingly clever paper today I have to share:

Imagine sourcecode that *looks* correct…but compiles to different logic!

Unicode has to support left-to-right, and right-to-left languages.

Visual order and logical order can be completely different!

🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

Honestly, AI slop PRs are becoming increasingly draining and demoralizing for #Godot maintainers.

If you want to help, more funding so we can pay more maintainers to deal with the slop (on top of everything we do already) is the only viable solution I can think of:

REMEMBER: All the "Don't use em-dashes" "don't use rule of three" advice because it makes your writing "look like AI" is because they stole actual writers work, and their "predict the next thing" stuff just simulates what WE FUCKING DO. Keep writing well. Use every style and trick you have. Fuck AI.

There’s going to be Covid style shortages of cars, TVs and even washing machines and fridges, then job losses because assembly lines can’t source solid state memory, just so the stupidest person you know can state with 100% confidence a chatbot confirmed dinosaurs coexisted with humans.
