Psy-op? This ain't the KGB.

Stop the hyperbole and call it what it is. Marketing.

Embrace it so she can justify chucking HALF A BILLION pounds of public money at an untested, speculative and frequently inaccurate form of technology.

I'd lose my job if I made this kind of mistake, or fucked up half as often as AI clearly does.

It's like watching wrestlers trash talk each other. Screams "I don't understand soft power and diplomacy"

USA is failing on the global stage because its leaders can't think beyond teenage mindsets of ”if I don't get my way I'm just going to smash stufg up"

Critical Atlantic current significantly more likely to collapse than thought Scientists say finding is ‘very concerning’ as collapse would be catastrophic for Europe, Africa and the Americas

Not saying things like war and AI and inflation aren't really important, but...

Our civilisation-sustaining habitat is at risk of collapse, and every kilogram of carbon we choose to add to the atmosphere makes that collapse more likely

I'm old enough to remember when, at the height of Br*tpop Matt Everitt's Menswear were on Top of the Pops and had only played four gigs.

Don't be so modest. Having a cracking album to start with helps!

Another take from the Spike Stent & Jamie Lidell chat:

Send hot signals into your processors. Drive them hard and make them work because that's when the magic starts to happen.

While doing some hardware parallel compression with the SC2 I was reminded how annoying latency is 😬...

So I worked around the latency 😀...

Then came the phase issues 😬...

And THEN I was reminded of Mark Spike Stent's talk with Jamie Lidell and how he uses phase to make certain elements pop out 🤔

A 90's vintage (?) green Joe Meek sc2.2 optical audio compressor sitting in a studio rack. Lovely blue LED. Above it is a cream TLA 5021 (or is it 5051, can never remember) tube input channel strip.

A Moog DFAM (Drummer From Another Mother) drum synth / drum sequencer / drum machine. It sits on a table below a Korg ARP 2600 synthesiser and next to a Sherman Filterbank filter and distortion FX processor. All analog synth circuits.

As the studio is having a mini refurb I finally got these two reintegrated back into the setup.

(Handy bonus sequencer w/CV outs on the Moog DFAM too)

DAW has new templates for routing. Always nice to be able to send any signal to any gear relatively easily.

Being able to hear your sounds is definitely the priority😂

My Sherman has always been a temperamental little thing. It often feels like it doesn't work properly until it's been on & had signal passing thru it for 10 or 15 minutes.

Had it since late 90s and it's very much loved.

Someone described it as a distortion with a filter attached, which seems fair

Director Ben Chanan and I were at college together. We lost touch a couple of years after (pre-mobile, pre-internet days).

Then about ten years ago I saw him collecting a BAFTA for a documentary.

Fair play to him.

I try not to comment on appearances but as a prematurely greying male myself I must concede the Czech president is one very distinguished and strikingly suave looking gentlemen.

It's also a way of reminding the owner of the other place that, despite huge government funding, his private space company hasn't achieved anything close to what he promised a decade or so ago.

This is gorgeous. "Blues to a boy" was my introduction to Robert's music and it's a stunning piece of music. Love your idea of playing layers on top of it. Really lovely.

Pretty persistently frustrating that enviro opposition to data centres get clumsily dismissed as "NIMBY" when, as you can see here, it's well-evidenced and packed to the brim with real-world examples of material harm.

And GP goes further than most in pointing out the end-goals of the system:
