isn't it nuclear electric, not bomb pulses? we've had a couple of these reactors tested, but nothing recently launched, right?
a large sign saying "shame on ice" in english, with the word for "shame" in hebrew also printed is displayed outside ice headquarters. just to the left, a US flag hanging from the building flaps in the wind
NY-10 congressional candidate Brad Lander speaks to journalists. Lander is wearing several buttons, one for Jews for Racial and Economic Justice, one saying "Dayenu", and one with "Jews say ICE out of NYC"
a man wearing a tallit and sunglasses blows a shofar at the anti-ice rally

sizable public protest about this the other day while I caught my bus to work. lots of drivers-by honking in solidarity with demonstrators. heartening to see, but hard to know exactly what other pressures are needed to stop this
i don't think you've interpreted this post correctly
I can't say for sure how this will change things in town, but I would be very surprised if this doesn't come with at least a chilling effect on people's daily lives.
These are high traffic areas, in a place with significant vulnerable populations to the same ICE activity that has terrorized cities like Minneapolis for months. Just last year here, an ICE goon making an arrest dropped his gun and then waved it at locals:

In addition to the concerns about community landmarks, the Hyattsville location is a shared office building with a community college, doctors offices, social services. There's a bus stop outside on a line taking mostly black and brown kids to school around the corner.
the riker strategy

well, somebody cares and I have to admit that my mere astrophysics phd did not prepare me for this
if I can swing it I'll show it to all the space telescope people next week and get their opinions
like I'm thinking about the love number and roche limits of an eye because we just had an egg planet paper press release and the whole thing there was that it's very out of round
my physicist hunch says no but you might have to ask a topologist or whoever
I think usually it's pointier than round
happy birthday, lauren!
a letterboxed review of the Rob Reiner film "A Few Good Men", stating: a first rate courtroom drama, drowning under a thick slime of american civic responsibility and military fetishism. thirty years and countless war crimes on, with the ascendance of a civilian military leadership that watches jack nicholson's scenes as an instruction manual, it's hard to imagine anything in real life resolving the way this does (as unsatisfying as the resolution actually is). a nice nugget hidden in nicholson's tirade on the stand is the venom with which he spits out lieutenant weinberg (nearly as hateful as his remarks on tom cruise's navy whites). great writing, you have to hand it to early sorkin
pulled a stack of Reiner movies out of the library last month and I'm glad I waited to get around to this one last, after listening to the latest @jamellebouie.net and @lioneltrolling.bsky.social podcast
when he finally gets his morning show host gig everyone else will be catching up
wow rip
the encore is perfectly fine you just need a refurbed bambino to go along with it
how are you gonna show up to coffee and cameras and not be able to talk coffee
