A bit like when my Italian grandmother showed me my mum’s school textbooks she’d kept from the 1930s. I was shocked at the rewriting of history and the world order with ‘il Duce’ at the centre. She’d kept them to show us kids as a warning of what can happen.
Karma. He’ll get so much more of the same when his day comes.
I told mine I see them more than my extended family.
Sadly, no Venice view here… but I do go for a restorative Negroni afterwards.
Bananas, more like…
Ugh. Give me the TGV or Frecciarossa anytime!
He’s alienated absolutely everyone. I loved Elly Schlein in Parliament yesterday. Trump clearly doesn’t get the ‘I can criticise my family but you bloody can’t’ thing…
Even the logo of the company is quite, erm… suggestive… 😂
The Rock is my favourite double decker train (apart from 1st class on the TGV!). I laughed about the local train company too, last time I was there…
Interesting place. My family’s from near Gorizia. Really interesting history. I love that you can walk over the border as you want. In childhood it was very different.
Enjoy them well earned beer!
I lived in Corsica for a year in the 80s. I loved beignets filled with brocciu. I’d get them in the morning at the bakers in my way to work. Wonderful.
Populism is a fundamentally dishonest form of politics, that attracts fundamentally dishonest people.
It is a tissue of lies that validates the darkest prejudices, and covers up the most blatant greed and corruption.
It generates wealth for the few, and suffering for the many.
Great time to be in Hungary!
Oh Dominic, I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a big character. Full of life. It was always good to read about him.
Chablis at £6.99…
And the toilets at the Sherborne are famous!
I’ll have to give it a go. I live in Dorset and can never find a decent pub in Sherborne.
The other extreme is the fancy The Sherborne.
Revolting!🤮
What are the chances of a Pasquetta picnic?

Israel has pushed ground forces into multiple areas of southern Lebanon
They've displaced huge numbers of civilians...
Yet it barely registers.
Russia did the same in Ukraine and the world responded with sanctions, outrage and coordinated pressure
The double standards are UNFORGIVABLE.
I miss the old Habitat!
But my provincia (Gorizia) and my comune (San Pier d’Isonzo) in FVG. 😊
This left me speechless. Thank you for posting.
Screenshot of a tweet: Ben Graham @BenGrahamUK X.com Britain has been a Christian nation for over 1,400 years. Through wars, plagues, and countless kings, Easter has always been celebrated. Yet now, Cadbury won't even use the word 'Easter' on their eggs. When did celebrating British traditions become controversial? Above a photo of Easter Eggs
Screenshot of a tweet: ClIr Jaymey Mclvor * @McivorJaymey x.com Any chance I can get an Easter Egg please M&S? Will they ever learn It's like they do it on purpose to offend. Easter is not National Chocolate Day. Which extremists are you trying hard to not offend? @marksandspencer @GBNEWS Above images of Easter Eggs in M&S
🧵And we're off, ladies and gentlemen!
It's "they're banning the word EASTER" week.
Regular as clockwork...
So here comes a history lesson and media lesson all rolled into one thread!
PS, I can't believe there's no easter egg emoji?
This was the best I could do - 🗿🥚
🤣 I digress!

Superb, isn’t it!
Possibly. It’s called A House in Bayswater and it’s on the iPlayer.
I found it by chance the other day. Fascinating. There’s another about the landlady of an old boarding house in Notting Hill. Also utterly brilliant.
