lol yeah it's a bad sign if they want to kick someone out for not being radical enough if that person is down to do the work and help out and be part of a radical group

I sure wouldn't fuck with a "democratic centralist" organization but I think it makes sense if the group itself is structured to prevent takeover, that people who want to help can help. Of course, they might be entryists, but like, so it goes?
it might be worth deciding based on the structure of the group instead? like, what's funny is that any group with multiple tendencies will naturally organize anarchistically / directly democratically.
It's the tolerance paradox, in essence. And I don't believe we should tolerate authoritarian organizing. But I am seen as intolerant and closeminded for expressing this position.
I make it clear that I am very interested in political pluralism, and am happy to work with anyone whose political position can more than cynically support political pluralism. It's telling that the Ukrainian anarchists let the Bolsheviks print their paper, but Bolsheviks rounded up anarchists.
TBH i'm terrible about this because basically, I don't trust authoritarians, see them as fighting for something entirely different than me. The best I've figured out is that honestly most of them are brainwashed and misinformed but not in it for bad reasons. Telling them this doesn't work.

Walked into Always Here bookstore on Williams here in Portland, for the first time! Really great selection, superbly curated and arranged. Bought a couple of books. Would've bought more, but on long walks I can only buy two that fit perfectly balanced in my jacket pockets.
A paperback book titled A Towering Flame: the Life and Times of the Elusive Latvian Anarchist Peter the Painter. Author: Philip Ruff. Cover image is of a man in a 19th/20th suit, collared shirt, and tie.

A bright flyer that reads "Speculative Fiction as Truth-Telling, kelly writers house, 3805 Locust Walk, Philadelphia, PA" as well as basically the info that is in the post itself
Hey philly! I'm giving a talk alongside Alex Smith, Elwin Cotman, and @abbeyangry.bsky.social on Wednesday at 6pm at the Kelly Writers House. It's free!
A photo of a greeting card illustrated by Katie Blanchard, which reads "So very grateful" over a richly-pigmented watercolor painting of a rainbow. The card is being held up in front of Firestorm Books and the store sign is visible in soft focus.
When we posted about our financial uncertainty on Saturday, we didn't imagine we'd be providing an update so soon. But over the last six days the response has been huge. Y'all placed over 350 web orders, which are keeping us BUSY (thank you for your patience!). 1/4
The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.
Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up.

The fact that someone with the power to do so threatened to bring down the Vatican and i am unhappy about this is just, one of the crazier things in recent history
"Why don't Americans..." they do. There's brave acts happening out of sight everyday.
Why don't YOU support them when they get arrested or provide material cover for them?
Centrists: he didn't pull the Genocide Lever this time! Hahahahaha TACO! This is going to tank his poll numbers.
Me:
if a position of authority can be misused in this way, that position of authority should not exist. It's clearly not enough to simply change who is in that position, no more than praying that the next king be better than the last.

I think it's bad for the President to threaten to annihilate an entire culture and i do not think you are being alarmist if you take his threats seriously and literally.
Viral photo from some years back of a man nonchalantly mowing his yard with a tornado on the horizon .
How it feels doing literally any task right now.
