I still think there are ways to provide a safer, and somewhat more endearing virtual environment than the content overflow that is roblox, or the cold minimalism of most modern UIs, so I've begun creating a list of programs & games that still scratch that itch of "using the family computer." (2/3)
Playing around with picoCAD 2 and having a kid on the way made me think of all the art programs and virtual toys I had access to on the family computer growing up (kidpix, the incredible machine, etc).
I know exposure to technology in the world we currently live in is near unavoidable but (1/3)
Sorry for the repost! I wanted to reshare my first #picoCAD2 model since I tweaked the animation slightly. The program is so simple and fun to use, it's easy to want to keep tinkering with things until it's just right.
Skipping out on an official Famicase submission again this year - between my day job, and preparing for a baby, I'm just beat! I hope everyone has fun though, and I might end up putting together a "pseudo-entry" a little later on, like I did last year β¨οΈ
I've been quiet for a little bit, but for good reason - My wife and I are expecting a baby boy this summer, and we've just moved!
I should be back to working on some fun logos & 3D models in the coming weeks, once everything settles down a bit more.
This is so cool, the character models are such a vibe!
This design is my submission to the 2025 kasecurio art exhibition, hosted by @kcuriostudio over on instagram! I was thrilled to be invited to submit and am very happy with how this design turned out!.
Make sure to check out the entire exhibition over at kcurio.com/kasecurio2025

BHC ALTERNATIVE: CIRCUIT - Faction & Company Logos
These are sets of logos I did for companies & factions in my friend's homebrew mecha arena TTRPG, BHC Alernative: Circuit. I'm really happy with some specific icons, such as Lange Newtype & Cross-Fox Hardlight Entertainment!

I revisited this and made a slight edit to his wheel base so it's more accurate to a real Kei-truck! (Mostly for my self-satisfaction :p )
Rumblin' Roots - Cast 2
A couple years back, I put together a handful of these little guys (A carrot, a leek, and a tomato plant) and recently, I wanted to revisit and expand the cast. The bonsai (Tatsuki) is my favorite, and the sunflower (Haru) is my wife's!

Another branding commission, for video game development team Herasoft! I leaned a bit into the peacock iconography associated with the goddess Hera for this ask.
Check out their in-development visual novel, Teeth and Tenderness, at their itch page here: kitsunemitsu.itch.io/teeth-and-te...
Some branding I put together for Pixelmods (@pixelmods_ on IG), featuring their mascot, Gunda! I'm really happy with how this one turned out!
The Zero Front prelude campaign is coming next week. If you'd like to listen to me and Granvir's publisher @gigatank3000.bsky.social yap about it during a co-op playthrough, you can tune in on youtube below π½
Grab your gunlance, Granvir: Zero Front drops in 7 days! Zero Front is a free prelude campaign to Granvir with fast paced progression aiming to show off some of the cool mechs you can build in the full release.
Just as I did with TSURUGI, here's the model that I created in AssetForge!
KAIKEN - CARTRIDGE LABEL & LOGO

"Bring it on!" - As I previously mentioned, I didn't make an official submission to #famicase this year; Still, I felt inspired by my previous design to put together a 'prequel' that also serves as my "what-if submission", and I'm very happy with how it came out!
Drill lance + missile shield + a new boosting torso all in action. You can only go forward but I think the only things complaining about that are the enemy mechs.

BULLET HELL! I love Shmups!
Amasawa Seiji carves a violin at a workbench in the animated film Whisper of the Heart.
Kiki takes a hot dish out of the oven in the animated film Kiki's Delivery Service.
An old man with bushy mustache and a robe eyes a precarious tower of building blocks in the animated film The Boy and the Heron.
Horikoshi Jiro, seated on a tatami floor in a traditional Japanese room, works at his drawing board by lamp light in the animated film The Wind Rises.
The entire Ghibli ethos is tied up in the idea of craftsmanship. It's a textual subject of the films (hand carving violins in Whisper of the Heart, for just one example) and the meta work that goes into the films themselves. Their films feature hard workers, and are animated with sweat and tears.
It feels like the terminus of the exploitative cycle creatives have experienced for years - it's not even a lack of creative freedom anymore, it's a matter of taking the work you, and those who came before have done, and boiling it down into it's most contrived, sellable thing.
Jordan makes really good points in this thread - For me, it's not the fault of the individual for wanting to have a way of feeling creative; it's the soulless nature of AI that, in a world increasingly focused on marketability, feels like a slap in the face.
Fun fact about the main 'Z' icon: her online handle was originally ZLillixn and eventually became zillixn/zillixnn due to name availability issues on multiple sites, so I worked so that there's still a hiiiint of that "L" within the Z.
