I disagree. Honestly it's proven not to do anything it promises, and it often misses absolutely crucial information. If an AI makes decisions or advises us on a National scale, who's to say it didn't miss crucial information? Its lack of accountability is the scariest. A robot cannot punished.

As you say, the ideas it connects could move at light speed, but without supervision they'd not be good. So every connecting node would have to have a human checking everything, which....why use it at all at that point? The academic sphere has been made infinitely worse by the use of AI

I disagree with the notion of us not having original thoughts actually. I think that while yes, we are simulacra, the changes we bring to "old" ideas do make them more original. While AI could connect ideas quicker, I don't think the ideas it does connect will necessarily be of a higher quality.

Automation of medial tasks would be lovely, but GenAI tends to be quite shit at doing things consistently. And GenAI doesn't create new ideas, they tend to recycle old ones. I firmly believe there are no problems that "thinking" done by a machine can solve. As it stands, GenAI is ruining the world
