And that's if the contestants weren't just ignoring the rules because they sucked. Like S1 had a "stand in the wrong place and lose" game. And Jimmy wanted chaos and people pushing each other for spots. But, the bad spots weren't told in advance. They opened and you fell. So players didn't engage.
The funniest part about Beast Games to me is how astonishingly low stakes it is.
Like Season 1 leaned way more on those "WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE ONE DOLLAR, OR TWO" challenges, and you saw the tension deflate in real time.
Most took the reasonable choice if they weren't humoring Jimmy. Why risk it?

I think in the future, I'd like to lean into either a harder fantastical angle, or a hard sci-fi angle.
Like a way to ground it in a specific genre to really emphasize the surreal body horror angle of the concept.
Because as it stands I feel like I didn't do enough to really make it its own.
Really the big breaker for Rats in Suits is the NSFW content. It's not an erotic comic by any means, but it's a terrible time to have nudity in any form in your art.
I would like to revisit the concept at least at some point. I think the world building is a little undercooked still.
For the record, this doesn't mean I'm stopping making comics and such. Just that I need to be more specific with what time I invest in.
In the foreseeable future, it's likely going to be more one shots and short comics like that. Stuff that is more achievable given my tight schedule.
As for what's next I'm not sure. I have other ideas for sure but I gotta be more picky given it's a full time job on top of a full time job.
I don't blame itchios NSFW change for slow traffic, that's entirely on me. It had some interesting ideas but my execution was pretty underwhelming. I need to be the one to give people a reason to keep reading, later chapters weren't really gonna change that.
Secondly is the general state of posting NSFW content. Itchio changing its rules certainly didn't help. And I just don't trust sites/want people to get in trouble to keep posting that comic.
Sure I could just edit it, but at that point I'm making a different comic.
So a small art update. I'm moving on from Rats in Suits. Where it is, is where it's gonna end.
The answer really is twofold. For one, I just don't have time to devote to a multi chapter comic, even a mini series. I'm currently working 40 hour weeks at Walmart, and all it does is kill the quality.
