But it turns out she said "Don't give me crap!" *at* me and was furious because she thought I was mocking her.

Ultimately, the entire problem was her fault. She was not a very good director (or person TBH) and quit midway through her second show, forcing another teacher to step in to save it.

About a week from the show date, she stopped our dress rehearsal to say I can't say "tough titty". So I told her that she never chose a replacement line, and she shouted "Don't give me crap!"

I thought she was suggesting that to be the new line, so I said it on the mic and we continued the scene.

I was the voice of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors.

One of the plant's lines in the script is "Tough titty!" The director had said she thought that was too vulgar, but she didn't choose a line to replace it with.

I can't tell if that theme reminds me more of the Pokémon Emerald Battle Frontier or the Panem Capitol coverage of the Hunger Games. In any case, I'd prefer to be in the former to being in our current political climate (and I'd possibly prefer the Hunger Games too depending on the outcome)
