To elaborate on this, when such a far-right populist figure has emerged in the EU it’s been at the expense of center-right, neoliberal Atlanticist establishment. Here we’d be pitting the isolationist Herronvolk social democracy figure vs an equally racist, neoliberal, rabidly imperialist incumbent.

I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting this poll suggests the rise of Carlson or some other right-wing populist as a sort of American Le Pen. Which is fair, but I think in considering the implications of that it’s worth noting our current president in this analogy is not Ciriac or Sarkozy but Zemmour

I am entranced by the The Pitt and also think it’s like a 6.5/10 show. It would be just as subtle and nuanced if there was a voiceover stating what morals the characters have learned at the end of each episode.

under the procedures laid out in the constitution, it is functionally impossible to amend the (intentionally!) anti-majoritarian structures of u.s. government.
as long as this is the case, we are still governed by the rules of long-dead slaveholders & plutocrats.
this is not a democracy.
Oh hey, don't see this talked about much but same, mine is like >300 which is very much Not Great.
Tisza is not remotely left (though I suspect the point largely stands as a good number of their voters seem to be left-of-center people holding their nose)
Because Fidesz gerrymandered and made the parliament wildly unproportional to help itself and it's backfiring badly.
Would be very funny if Fidesz+MH got more votes than TISZA but lost due to the gerrymandering and malapportionment
We have updated our recommendations!
We strongly oppose all amendments brought to the Elections team’s proposals, which would seriously undermine our deliberative democracy and encourage partisan siloing.
We are neutral on the amendment to our own PR bylaw change.

Will add Westworld to this list. First season was so perfect and could absolutely have stood alone, and then....the rest of it happened.
I'm from a very rural part of the Tri-Cities TN/VA area, on the VA side of course we had a Dem congressman til 2010 and Dems were *somewhat* competitive there prior to 2016.
It is true I think that the median Appalachian Democrat is more economically radical than the median Democrat nationally. But also these are counties that are like 75% Republican lol.
I don't think that's entirely accurate, though one can argue they were intentionally unaccommodating www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politic...
The Massachusetts House has advanced H. 5349, a draconian and laughably unconstitutional bill that would ban minors from social media, force social media platforms to enable parental surveillance of teenagers’ online activity...

The younger (which is just under 50) GOP numbers on this are pretty eye- popping. Majority disapprove of Israel! Trump at 39% disapproval(!!!) on the issue!
One of my favorite Lubchansky comics (and maybe the all time best capturing of the Trump Tweet Voice)
The matter-of-fact way she asks what investors should do if Trump destroys Iran. Absolutely wild.
"Let's talk about tonight, this deadline that President Trump has set 8 p.m., has threatened to destroy a civilization. How does an investor process that? Is it a bigger upside risk or downside risk?"
The President of the USA declaring that "a whole civilisation will die tonight" is not something that arrives out of a vacuum. It is precipitated by the widespread international failure to hold USA, Israel, and their allies including the UK, accountable for their actions for many decades
This seems to be basically the Trump Doctrine, even publicly
Proportional Representation for Boston DSA: Proportional representation helps ensure Boston DSA's big tent is represented in our chapter leadership. The current system, like the U.S. electoral system, relies on winner-take-all races and risks locking minority factions and independents out of leadership. In our current system, if caucus A gets 34%, caucus B gets 33%, and caucus C gets 32% (and there is even distribution of caucus C votes if they are eliminated), Caucus A gets 7 seats, Caucus B gets 3 seats, and Caucus C gets 1 seat. Under the proposed system, Caucus A would get 4 seats, Caucus B would get 4 seats, and Caucus C would get 3 seats.
Boston DSA needs proportional representation- let's have a leadership body that reflects our chapter!

What was normalized in Gaza will have lasting effects on the entire world. It was a signal to the worst of humanity that they can get away with even livestreamed genocide. And we see that very genocide expanding today, and Trump joining in not under cover like Biden, but front & center.
💢 REPORT | Opening Strikes in U.S.-Israeli Bombing Campaign Targeted Heart of Iran’s Pistachio Trade Iran was once the world’s leading pistachio producer. Today, USDA data show the U.S., led by California, accounts for roughly 65% of global output, while Iran’s share has fallen to about 18%. In the first week of the war, reports and geolocated satellite imagery indicated strikes in and around Rafsanjan, the heart of Iran’s pistachio sector, including apparent damage to pistachio warehouse facilities near the airport. The Resnick family, owners of The Wonderful Company and dominant players in California’s pistachio industry, have used political influence to secure vast water rights in drought-stricken regions, at the expense of local communities. The 2025 documentary Pistachio Wars examines their longstanding backing of pro-Israel lobbying groups, arguing that hawkish policies toward Iran align with their commercial interests, as weakening a key global competitor benefits their bottom line. 🎥 Pistachio Wars (2025) trailer.

Judas Iscariot was paid 30 pieces of silver for turning Jesus Christ in to the Roman authorities. But he made nearly 10 times that amount by placing a Polymarket bet accurately predicting the day of Christ’s death.
You seem very keen to avoid answering a very simple question about your own attitudes.
Okay, so is the answer "yes, I do feel equally/more sympathetic toward Russians shot down over Ukraine and hope they're alright?" That would be a defensible position! But if the answer is "no, I don't," that is not.
So what's the answer then?
Both are wars of choice, both are wars of aggression.
There actually is one big distinction- Russia has a draft, all the Americans are volunteers. But I don't think that one cuts the way you intend.
If the answer is "no, I don't feel the same way about that," what distinction exactly are you drawing? Serious question.
