👀 looks like the core Stan folks are pretty bullish on Jax as the software of choice for fitting Bayesian models

I love this and I think it applies in a way to cog psych and cog neuro as well
Hot off the "reels"! The keynote talk by Peter Hagoort, as well as award talks by @theamygdaloid.bsky.social, @monicarosenb.bsky.social and @actlab.bsky.social

Let's gooooooo!
Interested in learning how to process raw fMRI data? Join us April 21–23 for an intensive AFNI Bootcamp taught by instructors from the NIH. The course covers everything from preprocessing to data analysis.

Also out today - A quick intro piece on the role of the cerebellum in cognition. What does it do? How will we find out? This is what @actlab.bsky.social and I think the critical questions are right now. It was fun to write - especially the section on evolution....

Statistical Rethinking 2026 is done: 20 new lectures emphasizing logical and critical statistical workflow, from basics of probability theory to causal inference to reliable computation to sensitivity. It's all free, made just for you. Lecture list and links: github.com/rmcelreath/s...
Excited to see this work out! We show that attention can rapidly learn to ignore salient distractions within 1-2 exposures. Interestingly, this learned suppression is highly contingent on an initial instance of capture!
More to come!

Really excited to get stared on this project!
We are also looking for a postdoc to help with this project - the official job ad is coming soon, but please reach out in the meanwhile if interested! You'll get to do some behavioral testing and neuroimaging in people with stroke
I love this idea! Have to give it a read
Sabbatical is aging me quickly 😅
Pet peeve: People saying out loud, "the delta between X and Y". Delta is the symbol used for a difference as shorthand notation. If you're speaking just say "the difference" or "the change"!
The sky is not falling; high-quality platforms (Prolific, Verasight, CR Connect) have low rates of apparent bots. osf.io/preprints/ps... But also not zero; vigilance is very much needed!
Where lies the true value of our research? In data from experiments specifically designed to answer careful hypotheses. Forget about large scale and boring datasets that everybody can analyse and produce thousands of silly papers with. The future is in original datasets that LLMs can't produce.
New paper from the lab now out online! @changrun-huang.bsky.social asked whether people use informative pre-cues to up-regulate cognitive control in the spatial Stroop task. Surprisingly, they do not, and we rule out some possible reasons why. Enjoy!
I reviewed 5+ fMRI papers on response inhibition within roughly the last year, and the same points come up over and over again. So I wrote a short note last week entitled "The unique limitations of BOLD-fMRI in the study of response inhibition". You can read it here.

I am looking to hire 2-3 post-docs over the course of the next few months to work on questions related to cognitive control in humans, broadly construed. EEG, TMS, DBS, sEEG, fMRI or related methodological experience preferred.

Very proud that this is finally out!
Come for the new auditory illusion, stay for the brain imaging and speech analysis…..
The lesson for all the students out there is that science is a community project. Most of us make individually small contributions to this project. Success is measured at the collective level. Many of our professional (and personal) dysfunctions could be fixed by more fully embracing this view.
Final paper of my PhD 🤗

There is growing interest in how cognitive control may improve value-based decision making.
However, we find that a recent paper overestimated the role of control in their task, leading to erroneous interpretations of dACC recordings.
🚨 I'm searching for a full-time research coordinator to join my group & work on precision brain 🧠 network and cognitive control projects at both 3T and 7T. Please rt 🙌
Applications due: Feb. 26
Start date: flexible, as early as June
