I used to eat PB&J for lunch, so someone asked if I was a Quaker.

Sounds plausible enough. Although you could do a similar graph for post 2015 wine consumption.
Even for Trump's DOJ, this seems perverse. They filed criminal fraud charges against the SPLC for secretly "supporting" extremist groups by having paid informants inside those groups. By that standard, the FBI "supports" the Mafia and the CIA "supports" Iran.

EV sales surged everywhere apart from the US, rising more than 20% globally in 2025
* EVs were half of Chinese sales and electric truck sales in China tripled
* EV sales outside CN/Eu/US grew 80% (!)

What does 'energy dominance' actually mean in policy terms? @dfarber1950.bsky.social unpacks it legal-planet.org/2026/04/20/u...
Excellent news!
Trump keeps touting his "energy dominance" agenda. What does this actually mean? And would it bring the benefits he expects? Here's an explainer.

After its initial successes in attacking liberal institutions and policies, the Trump regime has now run into serious headwinds. @dfarber1950.bsky.social legal-planet.org/2026/04/16/t...
Trump no longer looks unstoppable. He has failed to stop the energy transition abroad and is only temporarily delaying it in the U.S. It's time to push hard against his extremist policies and protect forward-looking policies based on solid science.

Never Give Up! Every Ton of Carbon We Can Cut Still Matters—Actually, as atmospheric CO2 increases, the harm done by an additional ton of carbon may actually increase. The reason is that, while an additional ton of… legal-planet.org/2026/04/06/w... @dfarber1950.bsky.social @cleeberkeley.bsky.social
Great piece by Hannah with a mention of CPR's @dfarber1950.bsky.social of Berkeley Law.
“One thing NEPA has usefully done is push mitigation. Even though it doesn’t stop the basic project, maybe they do somewhat less environmental damage.”
There’s not enough Colorado River water to go around, but there’s no agreement about what to do. @dfarber1950.bsky.social legal-planet.org/2026/04/13/t...
A major swathe of the country gets its water from the Colorado. The river is in crisis -- and so are the letgal rules about allocating the water. legal-planet.org/2026/04/13/t...
Here's a new argument, based on established legal principles, for why carbon emitters have a duty to help other countries adapt to climate change even if the emissions themselves weren't wrongful.
legal-planet.org/2026/04/09/h...
There's a curious pattern: Trump does something clearly illegal, gets slapped down by the courts, then repeats. What's behind these power plays? And how do they hurt him in court?
law.pepperdine.edu/law-review/v...
No matter how much CO2 is already in the atmosphere, each additional ton increases the harm. There's no poiint at which we can say that it's no longer worth fighting to curb future emissions. Trump or no Trump, the fight to limit climate change must go on.

What forces cause political repression to grow? How can it be prevented? Jon Gould and I discuss his important new paper on the subject.

The Iran War it is hitting energy markets hard. Will that affect the energy transition? @dfarber1950.bsky.social legal-planet.org/2026/03/30/t...
Hegseth made the oil industry exempt from the Endangered Species Act in the entire Gulf of Mexico. Here's why his strained claim of national security may not hold up.
legal-planet.org/2026/04/02/j...
It's tough to make predictions when even Trump doesn't know what he's doing next. But the best bet is that the Iran War will advance the global energy transition rather than delaying it,
legal-planet.org/2026/03/30/t...
I can’t recall DOD, Navy, USAF, USMC, Army, or Coast Guard declaring a project affecting ESA listed, proposed species or critical habitat they were proposing was exempt from section 7 bc of National Security
But it will not be a surprise if 1 is declared given Trump & Hegseth’s brazen lawlessness

In 1969, Barry Commoner summed up much of environmental science in six words. Today’s conservatives don’t get it. @dfarber1950.bsky.social legal-planet.org/2026/03/26/t...
After Anthropic’s weeks-long standoff with the Pentagon, the company won one milestone: A judge granted Anthropic a preliminary injunction in its lawsuit, which sought to reverse its government blacklisting while the judicial process plays out.

Hegseth is planning to deploy an obscure, never before used, loophole to carve a giant hole in the Endangered Species Act. Like the attack on Iran, it's a big bold move. And like the war, it may not go as smoothly as he thinks.

We ignore the interconnected nature of environmental systems at our peril -- a lesson that the Supreme Court and Trump have yet to learn.
legal-planet.org/2026/03/26/t...
Just when Trump is dismantling climate and clean energy programs, scientists have found that the pace of climate change is accelerating. We will need to shift climate policy accordingly.
