We were outside Parliament today, calling out the betrayal of the terminally ill people by a few members of the House of Lords who have blocked the Assisted Dying Bill.

This grubby, morally bankrupt clique must be driven from British politics.
Almost everything we argue about is a substitute for the thing we should be arguing about: the immense wealth & power of an oligarchic class, which captures governments, ruins lives and wrecks the living planet.
This class redirects our rage at scapegoats. To resist its lies is to resist its power.

"When I’ve been most lost, I’ve felt myself realigned by encounters with novels. It’s been so profound for me what books have done to me in my life, this electric sense of reconnection that I’ve encountered when I’ve been at my most disconnected."

Photo of the South of Scotland regional ballot paper for the Scottish election on 7th May 2026. Added text identifies the "INDEPENDENT GREEN VOICE" as "NOT the Green Party" and "SCOTTISH GREEN PARTY" as "The actual Green Party".
Anyone who received their postal ballot today in the South of Scotland region, please be aware that "Independent Green Voice", which appears second on the list on the peach regional ballot paper, is NOT the Scottish Green Party. This is in fact a deliberate vote spoiling attempt by right-wingers.
This actually gets worse. They've replaced me with a repeat of my mate's show.
I have been sacked from an unpaid job making content for a company who I'd have to repeatedly hassle to put my shows up on Mixcloud, and then they've replaced me with a repeat of a show by my mate who guested on mine 🤯
Hey- my paperback is out tomorrow! Publishing a book, finishing a research project or article- it can all feel anticlimactic. Years of work, it comes out and then...
I'm celebrating with a cup of tea and walk. www.penguin.co.uk/books/458539...
🚨 Reform confirmed it on live TV tonight - Labour have already approached them about working together in Scotland!
To stop that nightmare scenario and maximise the number of pro-independence MSPs instead, vote @scottishgreens.org on your regional (peach) ballot paper 💚🗳️
The Labour Party have shown us all that they do not believe in democracy
Jeez. Labour MP’s have just voted to give police unprecedented powers to ban recurring protests turning a fundamental freedom into a privilege granted by the state.
No protest movement has ever brought about change through one single march or action. How did it come to this?
An' I hate modern music

They go on an' on an' on an' on an' on

Buzzcocks - Another Music in a Different Kitchen (1978).
Absolute game-changer. #5DebutAlbums7579
At Scottish Labour Conference in Feb 2025, a leadership-backed motion to adopt a transphobic policy on single-sex spaces in schools was defeated. Party members and affiliates voted it down.
Today Scottish Labour's leadership put that transphobic policy into its manifesto for May's election anyway.

Amanaz - "Africa"
1975
I only know about this because of the Now Again re-release, but yeah, some great funky music from Zambia.
#5debutalbums7579 The Abyssinians - Satta Massagana (1976) Cool, smooth vocal roots reggae harmonies that genuinely warm the heart. I'm a latecomer to this but am making up for lost time. #NowPlaying
#5debutalbums7579 Culture - Two Sevens Clash (1977) Sublime roots reggae from one of the best vocal groups of the era. Ten perfect songs of devotion, self exploration, justice and love. I'd be stunned if this doesn't make the cut in a strong field. #VinylCommunity #NowPlaying
Is 1977 the greatest year for debut albums ever? I think so. These are just some of the great ones... #5DebutAlbums7579
50 albums that I think qualify for this poll.
I have been swotting up for this one for the last hour. Such a great era. This is my 'short' list. I'm convinced that I've missed at least 20 others.
Hi folks, the next round of our debut albums competition will feature albums released between 1975 - 79, voting will commence on Friday 1st May. In the meantime please use the hashtag #5DebutAlbums7579 to post recommendations and listening suggestions. See you all in 3 weeks 👍
Iconic Indian playback singer and two-time Grammy nominee Asha Bhosle, whose voice defined Bollywood music in the 1970s and 1980s, has died at 92 in Mumbai.
Her family announced she passed away on Sunday at Breach Candy Hospital following "extreme exhaustion" and a chest infection.
Probably one of my top ten favourite albums, though I’d be hard pressed to explain why. Suppose it comes down to raw expression - words, vocals, keyboards, guitars. Rock n roll but not as we know it
#5debutalbums7579 Pere Ubu - The Modern Dance (1978) Essential uneasy listening music. It passed me by in the '70s - I guess I wasn't ready. Now, though? Wow! If ever a band was making a record entirely on their own terms.... this was it. #NowPlaying #MusicSky
