There’s so much to say about the remarkable reporting from Jodi Kantor & Adam Liptak—and I’ll say a lot of it in Monday’s newsletter.
But the most striking thing about all of it is the role & behavior of Chief Justice Roberts. “Calling balls and strikes” this ain’t:

Joking, please send Bezos a note thanking him for the wars and inflation. His Prime business is all about screwing the working and middle classes, so he must love it. He and his Epstein-class pals must have huge hardons right now from all the suffering they caused! Thanks for helping, WaPo reporter!
Geez, that’s awful. I feel really, really, bad for your boss Bezos. He spent a lot of cash destroying WaPo for Trump. Not to mention those millions he spent on that Melania documentary. I didn’t watch it, did it mention that she was partying with pedos while Jeff’s master was rawdogging porn stars?
Kurt Russell as Snake Plisken dropping the line "Get a new president."
Once again, Snake Plisken is on point.
Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe it’s the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal.
Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big.
And here we are.
I’m worried about AI replacing journalists, but Chat GPT does produce better analysis than the MAGA-fluffing, Bezos flunkies who WaPo’s articles these days.
What an embarrassing rag this paper has become. You should shut down.

A revitalization of The Expanse, picking up after the 3-decade time jump between books six and seven, is what I most want.
There was a reported “Expanded Universe” company overseeing a TV show of the new Captive’s Ear series, so I’m hopeful for that, though an Expanse continuation wasn’t mentioned
On Nov. 16, a mental health counselor recorded in Kamilla’s medical records that her mother reported the girl had lost her appetite after being “served food that contained worms.” A week later, the couple said, children were told to gather in the gym for what they believed would be a Thanksgiving celebration. Excitement spread as families saw tables set with turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, they said. The children waited expectantly. But when a parent asked when the celebration would begin, Oksana said, staff told them the holiday meal was for employees, not detainees. The children, she said, watched despondently as the feast was packed away.
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.
The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.
But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.
Text exchange with Lily. An Asian woman restaurant owner from LA. L: Thoughts on the collab we first agreed on, any tweaks M: Sorry. Don't have this number in my phone. Who is this? L: I'm Lily, have you forgotten me? M. You are completely forgettable. Please provide details. L: I'm from Los Angeles, and I own a restaurant here. I'm Asian.
Reply to Lily from fellow fellow Asian and restaurant owner David Chang: "Awesome! I'm an Asian restaurant owner too. Did you want to buy my Momofuku noodles or something? I can give you a discount. "
Lily ghosted me. Rude. I had even offered to introduce her to @matty-matheson.bsky.social "Hi again Lily. I'm in NYC and Taipei this week, but my friend and fellow chef Matty is in Toronto until the middle of the month. Would you like to get in touch with him? He's mostly into elevated American-style comfort foods, but I'm sure he'd love to collaborate with you."
Got an unsolicited text this morning. I assumed it was a scammer, but it’s a Toronto (GTA) area code so I replied.
I’m now impersonating David Chang.
An idiot, a con-man and a pedo walk into a bar.
The barman: ALL ON YOUR OWN TODAY, MR. PRESIDENT?
Note from the editors: ProPublica is publishing the names of the two federal immigration agents involved in the fatal shooting of Minnesota protester Alex Pretti. We believe there are few investigations that deserve more sunlight and public scrutiny than this one, in which two masked agents fired 10 shots at Pretti as he lay on the ground after being pepper-sprayed. The Department of Justice said it is investigating the incident, but the names of the two agents have been withheld from Congress and from state and local law enforcement. The policy of shielding officers’ identities, particularly after a public shooting, is a stark departure from standard law enforcement protocols, according to lawmakers, state attorneys general and former federal officials. Such secrecy, in our view, deprives the public of the most fundamental tool for accountability.
A note from our editors:
The right way to get into the Epstein files.
24 hours later: Trump has two journalists arrested
I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.

In the first season/book of The Expanse a key plot point is when the governing authority replaces trained police with hired mafia goons to more easily brutalize the population.
Just thinking of that for no particular reason.
FAKE NEWS: Titus Andronicus are too dedicated to their artistic indie-pendence to ever join a major like Paramount Skydance Corp.

YES... HA, HA, HA... YES!
Generally. Though Tim Snyder, Marci Shore and Jason Stanley were kinda mouthy about it.

We are supposedly getting an influx of doctors, medical researchers and historians who study fascism though…
I’m still waiting for Snoop Dogg to move here. He said he would after we legalized weed and Hilary lost.
As we do with every US election, Canada will prepare itself for a bunch of whiny refugees.
1. A comms guy threatening reporters by siccing the White House on them.
2. The wife of a WH official threatening a pundit's citizenship.
3. A drunk ICE agent saying he'll check an arresting officer's status.
These are all the same thing.
Absolute banger. We're on a Halloween binge and followed up with Shaun of The Dead. Plan to add Dusk Til Dawn, Near Dark and Green Room for a drinking-establishment themed films. Aside from Shaun, none of those compare to Sinners for production and style - but SotD and Sinners also aren't comparable
Presbyterian minister David Black on CNN, who was shot with pepper balls while praying outside an ICE facility.
Of all the clerics they could have popped, those ICE idiots had to hit Hot Priest.
I know the mainstream media’s reputation has been in the shitter, but WaPo and Bezos’ other mainstream MAGAT media is even worse. Is Amazon ‘s Melania doc gonna mention that Trump was raw-dogging Stormy when she was preggers? I doubt it!
Propaganda should be free, bitches! Take down your paywall!
Obama on Charlie Kirk:
When Bezos produces the Melania documentary, is he gonna do a bit about how her husband was raw-dogging a porn while she was knocked-up with Barron? I doubt it!
WaPo’s brand is shit! It’s a rag that’s not even good for bird-cage lining! Birds don’t like shitty papers!
#MAGATMedia #FakeNews
Bezos fucking sacked a black woman for having the temerity to directly quote Kirk. Fuck the MAGAT Post! The CEO gave Melania a $40 million bribe to produce a bullshit hagiography. Fuck that guy and the crony MAGAT media! Trump got you producing #FakeNews, you can’t be trusted and your brand is shit.
There is a rather nice "Judith Beheading Holofernes" porcini mushroom pasta sauce. Not organized crime, of course. Just seduction and assassination.
It's by Middle Earth Organics, so a Tolkien decapitation may have been more on-brand than Old Testament.

If I have any credibility with you from 20 years of reporting on rightwing & fascist movements, please listen when I beg you not to celebrate Charlie Kirk getting shot. Leave aside morality: this isn’t a match in dry grass, it’s a torch. We do not want what this could ignite & we would not win.
