Can we bring back DEI? I liked it better when we didn’t have to worry about planes crashing all the time.

I wouldn’t object to that, though removal is unlikely.
Maybe refuse to fund programs Trump likes until he releases funds?
Give statehood to DC
Authorize the President to name three new Supreme Court justices
Fund USAID and other defunded government agencies
Fund the NSF, CDC, NIH, and other science programs
Organize hearings on corruption by the Trump family and administration officials
Can we bring back DEI? I liked it better when we didn’t have to worry about planes crashing all the time.
This made me chuckle.
It’s Hassett’s constant smirk that gets under my skin. You can tell he doesn’t believe anything he says.
Basically every class I teach would be banned in Texas, since I include sections on gender and sexuality in my courses on religion and politics, human rights, African politics, etc. How could I teach about Rwanda’s genocide against the Tutsi without discussing sexual violence?
The idea that teaching Plato somehow violates official standards is … quite something. These idiots have shifted from claims they want to preserve Western civilization to a commitment to just keeping everyone stupid in order to protect their power.
Totally disqualifying. She’s an apologist for genocide.
These stories show not just the lack of planning for this unnecessary war but also the utter disdain that the Trump administration has for actual soldiers carrying out their orders. Military personnel are clearly the kind of people that Trump considers unworthy losers.
Other than the racism and Islamophobia and anti-immigrant sentiments, even MAGA don't really like most of Trump's actual policies.
The economy is tanking. Prices are up. We’re losing an unnecessary war. The federal government has launched a police state spreading terror in our communities. The president is fighting the Pope and posting himself as Dr. Jesus. But 37% of people still approve of Trump!?
I will never understand.
This morning for some reason we had on a Sunday news show. After a Trump official claiming no one could possibly say Trump doesn’t value diplomacy was followed by a UAE official trumpeting her country’s diversity and great human rights record, I remembered why I stick to NPR.
We DID have to take a puzzle piece out of his mouth.
Democracy will not come Today, this year Nor ever Through compromise and fear. I have as much right As the other fellow has To stand On my two feet And own the land. I tire so of hearing people say, Let things take their course. Tomorrow is another day. I do not need my freedom when I'm dead. I cannot live on tomorrow's bread. Freedom Is a strong seed Planted In a great need. I live here, too. I want freedom Just as you. Langston Hughes
He’s gotten used to being the household alpha, keeping the dog and other cat in line, so he’s probably trying to bully me into submission.
Treats forthcoming.
We’ve been doing puzzles a lot recently, and until now, the cats have been mostly uninterested.
The cruelty and narcissism of vast swaths of the United States knows no bounds. It's hard to imagine how to fix this, culturally speaking.
Once again: Only when it directly affects THEM do they care. They don't care about indiscriminate violence, concentration camps, children divided from parents, other forms of cruelty.
Only the prices on their restaurant menus.
How do you politely tell the cat that he’s not actually helping with the puzzle?
One news commentator I heard on the local NPR station called her a “shockingly conventional” choice and wondered how she would manage surrounded by all of the crazy unqualified people Trump has otherwise appointed.
I wanted my second book to be academic but accessible. I focused on using narrative and descriptive methods extensively. It took 15 years to research and write, but I was proud of the result.
A clear example of how Trump's policies are driving away talented, committed, and intelligent people. We are witnessing American decline.
For the cost of one Harvard Professor of the Constitution Only Applies to White People, you could endow 10 professorships of any less commonly taught language at any university in the USA
"The Trumpists fear Pope Leo not simply because he’s defending the views, and speaking to the communicants, of his church. They fear him because he’s defending the principles, and speaking to the citizens, of his country. Of our country."
My family has been Protestant for more than 400 years, but I’m feeling pretty okay about the Catholic Church at the moment,
“USAID’s expertise was jettisoned thanks to the indifference, incompetence and cruelty of a small group of uninformed and unqualified political operatives who ignored the warnings of experts of the mass suffering that would result.”

Armed man in fatigues holding sign that says, “We hated Obama like you hate Trump. Except we hated Obama because he hated America. You hate Trump because you hate America.”
Here’s what one of my old high school friends from Kansas posted on Facebook. It’s remarkable to me how part of the US lives in a completely alternate reality. How you can look at Trump’s self-interested actions and think he loves America is beyond me, but a third of the country seems to believe it.
