Globe showing the Atlantic Ocean with arrows depicting the AMOC circulation: warm surface currents (pink/red) flowing northward from the tropics toward the Arctic, and cold deep return currents (blue/purple) flowing southward. The background shows sea surface temperature trends, with a prominent blue cold patch, the "cold blob", south of Greenland, contrasting with warming (orange/red) across the rest of the ocean.
1/ There's a system of ocean currents in the Atlantic that shapes Europe's #climate, drives monsoons, and keeps sea levels stable along the US coast.
In the last 5 years, the scientific evidence that it could collapse has shifted dramatically.
Most people have no idea. 🧵
The stealth privatisation of the NHS is a scandal. Like water companies, it has not improved services but just cost more money

This show huge disregard for nature. How did an ecologist not find swifts when they were clearly there. Why were the nest holes blocked?

The US should be leading the world in addressing climate change. Let's hope that one day (soon) it will be. But a bipartisan approach will need to be recovered.

Dear Friends,
Please send this to your networks. Project Drawdown is offering full-time, paid (with benefits) fellowships to scientists and engineers working on climate solutions in the public interest.
Deadline is April 17.

There is a lot of pressure to open up these oil fields, but if they would really contribute so little towards UK gas and oil needs, we would be far better investing in renewables, which give jobs for the future

This is a really good idea. I can imagine teenagers picking up cans and bottles to gain tokens for local stores

Two of the best book on environmental biblical interpretation are by evangelicals - Douglas and Jonathan Moo in the States and Richard Bauckham in the UK
Having said that, there are also US evangelicals who are engaged with issues of environmental and social action
Definitely conserving resources
Tearfund and A Rocha both have evangelical origins and both promote environmental action. Both have a lot of evangelical followers. Evangelicals in the UK have been more outwardly focused than the US, though sadly there is also US influence coming in now.
I signed the letter to Paul Marshall. Sadly he seems in need of significant briefing on climate change and net zero.
The water companies should be nationalised.
This motion would be very negative for the greens. What is needed is a peaceful solution where all people can live in freedom. Prioritising one ethnic group against another does not help at all.
I signed this open letter because I believe that when scientists say the link between human actions and climate change is unequivocal, it is highly irresponsible for a CEO of a major media outlet to say that this link is still under debate.

Excellent news! Pity that it has been put back a year, and a greater pity that it wasn't introduced in 2016 as originally planned. Without the need for gas mains and the boost for the solar and heat pump industries, the prices should be comparable fairly soon.

All world leaders need to take this seriously and somehow the misinformation needs to be overcome

It is far greener to keep cars until they are much older than 10 years, they just need regular servicing (our last car was 16 years old when we traded it in). How can we encourage businesses to have greener policies which also support younger people?
