2) Mitch Turned Vespers aka was the “Ghost Bat”- feels obvious. Mitch seems like a soft dumb vampire, probably felt so bad that he made her his sidekick/ made the hero persona up for her

1. The reverend is against the masquerade- he berates Madeline for not knowing how things work despite age, he tells David Otherman he needs to be stopped then kills him; he IS aware of Twitch Ratings

Btw isn’t event strictly Jiang Family bashing this is just canon WWX had a lot of criticism thrown at him bc JFM ‘favored’ him. Even if it remained Canon treatment (MY putting a lot of pressure on JC, stricter with WWX, JC being stressed and upset) it still would trigger anxiety

Up to the reader if it ever gets better. But there is something to be said about trying even if it is a Sisyphean task. He tries and knows he will never fix his relationship with his sons. But he can’t do much more other than try as an apology.

LXC and LWJ at least get more stories about their mom

Whoever LXC brings home is also subjected to this. Which I think is hilarious no matter who it is. NMJ is probably confused the entire time and bluntly wondering “I thought your dad was dead”. JGY is better redirecting. JC has his own drama but twin pride bonding.

This isn’t even factoring LSZ in this. But from personal experience- I think LSZ is a cocktail of cold dagger glares, passive aggressive smiles and malicious politeness.

Boy is worst then both his dads.

QHJ is also quietly fond of the boy as well.

Still doesn’t LIKE QHJ. He is going off LWJ vibes like the great husband he is. But does help LQR buffer the awkwardness more. Be himself at dinners again.

But like- the vision is complex family vibes. I want the brothers to stand up to their dad. I want drama. I want weird family bonding

It is the awkward feeling of being fully supported by the one family member you don’t really like.

I think once WWX is supported more he loses that anxiety over time. It takes a LOT of dinners with LXC (an apology which becomes a regular thing) and LQR softening towards him- WWX bounces back

Also a lot of the extended Lan Family is getting off of WWX’s back. Bc QHJ fully supports WangXian. While awkward in front of his sons he does- sadly- share a lot in common with LWJ and is a scary glowerer. He didn’t do so with his wife- so he does so for his sons now.

Even more a shock is LQR comforting him. He expects to get yelled at but instead LQR sighes quietly. ‘Don’t let this discourage you. My Brother thinks their mother would have loved you’. Which leaves WWX stunned and going to LWJ like ‘I am dreaming your uncle is defending me’

Bc he is trying, WWX is not as confident, which makes LWJ a protective menace, LXC’s heart isn’t really in it to stop him and LQR has to buffer all of it.

But WWX does get reassured by LXC that no- their father favoring him isn’t an issue- he is much more approachable. It was why LXC invited him

But it is kinda becoming obvious QHJ is now trying. Maybe not to be a dad (that shipped sailed LQR has that role)- he knows he fucked up there and his wife will be furious when he sees her again in the afterlife. But he is at least making himself more available.

But now it is kinda sticky

It more or less ends with LQR and LXC getting together like ‘ok that went side ways real fast.’ Bc LWJ refuses to speak to ANYONE until he has reassured and comforted his husband that no. LWJ doesn’t really care that QHJ likes WWX. he should. WWX is amazing. LWJ cares more about WWX.

So dinner is a WHOLE thing. QHJ is trying- failing- but trying. WWX goes from ‘protect jades’ to ‘I want to hide now’. LWJ is glaring at LXC across the table the more WWX shrinks on himself and LXC is quietly trying to apologize and get attention off of WWX.

Turns out- he realizes later after dinner is done- he has anxiety about parents liking him. LQR’s open annoyance with him doesn’t trigger a very specific Jiang family trauma. He is kinda now terrified LWJ and LXC are going to hate him bc their dad sees to openly like him.

I think no one is ready for QHJ to be a lot warmer and fond of WWX. In hindsight- LQR realizes why. QHJ seems to be entirely ok giving LXC like smiles to WWX’s glares. Asking WWX about how he and LWJ met. WWX is confused, annoyed and realizes ‘oh I have anxiety’ about this.

WWX is convinced QHJ hates him after their talk (he only cares the man tried piss poor as it was) and if LXC and LWJ want him to buffer with LQR- he is doing it. Least he better than the other family dinners where he is being quietly judged by LQR and making small talk with LXC.

He tries again at a family dinner with LQR- and LXC is like ‘Wangji I am so sorry I can’t do that again you HAVE to bring your husband’. LWJ does not? Want his husband near that man? Have they not learned from their mother? But LXC gets dirty and let’s WWX know and WWX is on guard bunny mode

No one knows how to start a conversation- LWJ fully doesn’t know this man. LXC is too diplomatic- and QHJ has no idea what to talk about with his sons. Bringing up WWX gets a glare and asking if LXC is dating gets silence and an even harsher glare.

Overall it is a failure

He can’t help but be fond of LWJ’s husband. Quietly go to her tablet to tell her she would be proud.

Per WWX’s rant,, maybe he does try. Try to reconnect with them. Much to the Twin Jade’s shock.

LXC tries back, fully dragging LWJ with him the first time- but it is awkward.

He saw the love of his life in the boys words. He saw her long gone passion, her heart. He waved off LQR’s apology bc A-Zhan’s husband wasn’t wrong.

When he tried again he sees LWJ’s husband teasing and poking. Smiling the same way his wife use to. Someone his wife would have loved.
