I'm gonna need a minute to wrap my brain around the idea that "Kardashian theorist" is a thing.

Went to the library today to pick up a hold. On the free shelf outside was a copy of "Lonesome Dove" by Larry McMurtry--the very same copy I put there a year ago. Glad to see someone read it and brought it back for someone else to read. (Coincidentally, my hold was a book by Larry McMurtry, too.)
The editor in me cannot resist pointing out the correct spelling is "Colombia."
My ancient 80GB iPod Classic woke up! It works only when plugged in, and I can't turn it off, but ALL THE MUSIC! Years of it, sorely missed.
If it's IBS you're on the right track. Lactose-free Greek yogurt helps me a lot but there's no surefire cure.
I eagerly await the next installment of the 1970 disaster film series: "AIrport 2026."
Two words: Sidecar class.
Just wanted a pawtograph.
I bet the pig didn't expect that, either
It took me about 10 days to edit the MS the agent asked for rewrites on. It's with him now. It's 4000 words shorter but much more fast paced. Even if he doesn't rep it, it's a better book for his input.
The scrapped sequel wasn't wasted effort. Writing is good practice for writing.
(2/2) Trimming the fat is one way to go but overall the sequel's not working for me so I'm tossing it all and starting over with another plot. They say you have to learn to kill your darlings--this was wholesale slaughter.
After submitting the rewrite of my MS to an agent I'm second guessing myself about the 21K-word (so far) sequel I began while I waited to hear from him the first time. Compared to the version based on his notes the new one is slow and cluttered with detail that slows the story. (1/2) #amwriting
Co-authors, maybe, acknowledged or uncredited. It's how James Patterson coughs up a book every 15 minutes.
"Did you have a nice motorcycle ride this afternoon?"
Yeah, I did. I rode over to--
"Cool story, bro. Listen, I have this ball, OK? And it's not going to throw itself, is it?" #dogsofbluesky
I've owned an '84 GL1200 (no photos, sadly) and an '03 GL1800 (L), and tour-tested a 2018 GL1800 DCT for Jalopnik (R). They were all too heavy for daily riding but nothing beat them on the highway. The 1800s were hot rods, way better in the twisties than you'd think. The DCT transmission rocks.
That's a perfectly acceptable option. It's my chosen fallback when eunnui strikes.
We're watching "Return of the King." It's at the point where Frodo goes into Shelob's lair and it's so scary Sophie can't watch it. "Tell me when it's safe to open my eyes."
Oregon pitched up a perfect afternoon today so I went for a ride. Lots of bikes out, all of them going faster than me. Got passed on the outside of a corner by a guy on a Honda CT125. Wanted to tell him I could have gone faster, but he got away. What's everyone's rush? #motosky #motorcycle
For those of you who believe you can tell a lot about someone by their bookshelf, here's mine. Fire away.
I spent the last 10 days rewriting my MS per an agent's suggestions, logging three to four hours per day on line-by-line edits. I sent it off this morning and this afternoon I'm an exhausted, empty husk. Don't ever let anyone tell you writing isn't real work. #amwriting #writingcommunity #author
It happened across all genres. As book prices rose readers wanted to feel like they were getting the most for their money. I've heard it called "books by the pound."
Once again I'm discovering how useful Word's "speak-aloud" function is for editing. If my eyes miss the typo my ears catch it. Words repeated too often clang like alarm bells. It takes longer than reading but it pays off in accuracy. The deadpan robot-like voice is creepy, though. #amwriting #author

I've never lived more than 50 miles from the Pacific Ocean. And I've never lived nearer a prettier stretch of it than the southern Oregon coast. Rocks, wide beaches, little hidden bays--they're all right there, close enough to hear the seals barking if the wind is right. #motosky #Oregoncoast
I bought a rotisserie chicken for dinner. Traditionally Sophie gets a few bites of skin and the juice in the container poured over her food. I turned around to wash my hands and when I turned back her bowl was empty. Now she's zonked out on the sofa, eyes closed, burping quietly. #dogsofbluesy
Anything by Bill Bryson. Travel, history, science. Witty and informative. No downers, no angst.
Slicing out huge chunks of my WIP that I really liked when I wrote them, but which I see now drag the story down. Remind myself no one ever said, "This book would have been a lot better if he hadn't cut out that part I never knew was there in the first place." #amwriting #author #writingcommunity
12:30pm: Forecast is for cloudy skies, high of 62F, zero chance of precipitation until 4pm.
12:32: Begin suiting up.
12:45: Open garage door to pouring rain, thunder, lightning, gusty winds.
12:46: Close garage door, go back inside.
Kiss my ass, Weather Underground.

Wow, a blast from my past. Glad you liked it.
Someone once told me, "In order to fully appreciate Italian motorcycles you need to be able to look at a flaw and see it as character."
