Fanny, the girl in the painting was a local schoolgirl in Hyvinkää who Helene had a strong interest to paint and finally succeeded to over-talk her to be painted.

On the left we see a darkblue sea washing up against rockformations with old buildings on top, leaving white foam around the shoreline at the left. On the higher rocks on the left is a fort like building surrounded by green vegetation. On the higher rocks on the right we see a city wall from where the picture is taken. In the middle lower part there's a little haven with old buildings with orange tiled roofs. The sky is clouded. In the background on the right there's a hill.

Le soleil est au centre de l’image, entouré d’une vaste étendue de nuages blancs et légers, qui forment des motifs fins et texturés tel un nuage de lait dans une tasse à café. Juste en dessous du soleil, un trou inhabituel dans les nuages attire l’attention : il ressemble à une empreinte ou une forme ovale, presque comme si une partie des nuages avait été creusée ou comme si un vaisseau était en train de se poser. En bas de l’image, on distingue une silhouette de collines couvertes d’arbres et quelques habitations au loin, tandis que des branches d’arbres dénudées sont visibles au premier plan. L’ensemble donne une impression de calme et d’étrangeté à la fois, avec une lumière douce filtrée par les nuages.
