Solar and wind are now far cheaper, yet gas still sets electricity prices around 60% of the time.
The Government will help break the link between renewables and gas by moving more projects onto fixed-price contracts.
This will cut bills and make us less exposed to price shocks.

Young people are increasingly being priced out of housing in Derbyshire Dales.
This Government has already invested a record £39 billion into affordable housing.
Nonetheless, the Government must continue to act: every young person should be able to live where they grew up.

This is a pay boost for thousands of workers across Derbyshire Dales, and a pay rise for 2.7 million workers across Britain.
Labour founded the minimum wage, and Labour will always stand up for those on low pay.

Last week, Bakewell’s Medway Centre was transformed into Rydell High School, and Bakewell Youth Theatre’s performance of ‘Grease’ gave the audience what they came for: slicked back hair, catchy songs, and a slice of 1950s Americana.
Yesterday, I raised the case of Rob, a pensioner who has been left without central heating since the 5th of March, with the Minister for Energy Consumers.
I was pleased that the Minister reiterated that the Government is committed to properly regulating the heating oil industry.
Today the Government announced £53 million to help low-income households in rural areas with heating oil costs.
Alongside this support the Government will explore ways to better protect the 750,000 people in England who use heating oil, including over 4,000 in Derbyshire Dales.
At Environmental Audit Committee, I asked whether caps on SFI will enable sufficient investment into nature-friendly farming.
